while typing sudo apt-get install squid, i dont get the last sentence - squid start/running, process xxxx. please explain me what is the problem?

my isp gives me already a proxy with username and password, and i want to create another proxy using that proxy by help of squid proxy

you can use reload instead of restart and the config is reloaded but the service never stops

sudo gedit /etc/squid/squid.conf

after this command show it---
No protocol specified
unable to init server: could not connect: connection refused

(gedit:1577): GTK-warning * * : can not open display : :0
