Toy Story 4 in its structure is similar to an epilogue as the story builds not only on the third film but relies on it to succeed.

I can see why people don’t like 4. Since it debuted my favorite tiger story character, and my favorite Pixar character of all time it is my favorite

AND once there’s a story founded that’s so good to Pixar, they will stop at nothing to make sure that story is told. Toy Story 3 was the ending of the toy’s time with Andy but that was never the focus of the franchise. The franchise was never about kids playing with toys but rather parents being there for their kid with the toys representing the parents. Toy Story 4 deals with what happens when you’ve done your duties as a parent and that child is taken away from you. What’s retirement like.

I feel like big companies don’t understand that you can keep using the world without using the characters. Like with fairly odd parents. They should have made the new show after channel chasers.

They should have a rule that a franchise should only have a trilogy. Make a 4th movie if the 3rd movie is too big. (Example: Avengers Infinity War and Endgame)
They want to continue the franchise. Make a new trilogy or a trilogy of spinoffs.
