Hey Jessica, I just discovered your channel. I was a CO in Missouri before moving out to California. I didn't like much about the system and I've since made a career of substance abuse counseling and advocating for reform. I think your story is inspirational and even though we've never met, I'm proud of you. I know that sounds condescending and I apologize, but I've seen many who wish to change their lives around and were not able to make that difficult pivot. I wish you success with your channel and your endeavors.

I remember my mum making what she called “Fruit Punch” (a Scottish homemade party drink) for a Hogmanay (new year) house party we were having. Not all of it got drunk so she stored it in plastic bottles in a cupboard in the sitting room. About 3 weeks later, when we forgot it was there, my Dad and I were watching an old movie, when the bloody stuff EXPLODED everywhere! There were several really loud BOOMS💥 and the cupboard door flew open. It smashed in to the back of my Dads chair as fizzing plastic bottle bits came flying out like missiles!! It was hot melting, plastic that stuck to the skin and burned 🥵. When it stopped exploding, my dad and I came out from our hiding place and went to see WTF had just happened? Then we see 12!!!, fizzing, bubbling plastic bottles, in various stages of melting! The sight was like watching the Terminator disappear into molten Iron! It smelled so bad too 😢. That was over 30 years ago and it still has me laughing to this date 😂. I don’t think my mum has ever been in jail but she sure can make a mean Hooch 😂❤

I’m 4 years sober now with a beautiful 2 year old, your videos helped me so much in the beginning of my sobriety. I struggled so hard and I just remember staying up all hours watching you do prison makeup and try prison foods just so I wouldn’t go buy drugs. I’m much better now, and I haven’t watched in forever, but I stumbled across your video today and just wanted to say thanks. I think you saved my life

I love it when you say,
"bowl with lid".
It cracks me up every single time.

The fact that I've heard you say in previous videos over the years saying you wouldn't make two videos "tampons and hooch" and have infact made both videos now, makes me happy 😊 I'm so glad you decided to do those videos REGARDLESS. We love you Jess! 🤗

A few of my friends and I made pruno once because we were super bored and also a bit curious as to what it would taste like. Tried it a few days later and it was freaking disgusting. It's been over a decade and I still can't forget that taste/smell.

I worked as an officer in a county jail, and several guys in a block would contribute to brew this stuff. They didn't get any fruit juice, but they used the canned fruit with syrup and always used torn up bread. The smell when they burped the bag was always a dead giveaway when we made hourly rounds. I can't believe that anyone could drink that stuff.

If you are a CO is foolish enough to bring in contraband to inmates, they will get you over a barrel. After you do it once or twice, the inmate will tell you that they'll turn you in if you don't keep bringing the contraband--at a reduced price if not free.

I had to laugh when you talked about some people putting bread in the hooch. When my husband was in prison, he called me one day and asked me to Google if there was bread in hooch because they were having a debate about it 🤦‍♀️😄

Pro tip: the yeast in the bread is no longer active. Adding bread to hooch isn't doing anything for the alcohol content, it just makes it taste bad.

LMFAO 😂 My "bakery" experience gave me access to yeast, sugar and juice, so I became very proficient at fine barf bag wine. Long story short. I got extra time for it, so I just started "liberating" the ingredients for an alcoholic I befriended to make it for me per my exact instructions which included cooking it off to make it clear. I must say, with all that said, I haven't made any since I hit the streets because it's just not necessary. Oh, and yes believe it or not my "pruno" after it was cooked off in a hot pot didn't taste like wine. It tasted like white lightning ⚡😜.

I've never heard of smoking orange peel to get high, but back in the 60's people smoked banana peel- they called it "mellow yellow". Donovan made a hit song about it.

For those wondering the basic ingredients of alcohol are yeast, fermentable sugar and yeast nutrient. In this recipe the fruit, sugar and fruit juice are the fermentable sugar, the ketchup is the yeast nutrient and the kicker provides the yeast. The kicker fruit has natural occurring yeast which presumably grows in number over time using the sugars from the fruit to increase the amount of yeast available.

When you said “burped” as a mortician I understood 😂 because happens with corpses when they use sealed caskets, they explode or “burp”

It’s a testament to how creative people can get when forced to be. There are prisoners who are barely literate, no job or life skills and no education who can figure out things like this!
