I just put out extended walkways which looks to me like a patio since the walkways are laid side by side. I put only 2 and a half inches thick for this patio and the first walkway I put out some thirty years ago with no cracks also the same thickness of two and a half inches. My ancestors who are Chinese put up a great wall of China and believe you me it still stands.

when pouring a concrete patio 5" thick against a house. Should you dowel out rebar from the houses foundation and tie it to the rebar in the slab? My foundation is pier and beam not a post tension slab. Either way yes or no to the dowels, should I put fiber expansion board against the house?

On a slab 17ft by 10ft would 2.5 inch be ok, one side of the slab is for a hot tub that with water in it will weigh just under 1, 000kg and the other side just some chairs., and will I need steel mesh to strengthen it.

Thank you for your informative video! I live in Idaho Falls, Idaho and we have lots of snow and cold winters here. I want to put in two concrete patios in the back yard. I have been told that stamped patios do not hold up well in severe climates. My question is...Can a 6" thick, stamped patio with densifier and an appropriate seal work in strengthening the concrete for our climate? Also, would a exposed, aggregated patio be a better option? It is quite an investment and I want it to last for a long time! Thanks!

Just go 4 inches usually if you go 6 inches it might cost more then 100$ more depends how much space is left in concrete truck 6 inches is stronger but a little overkill unless u plan on driving on it

1/3 thicker costs a third more. And you never discuses shape or soil density. And mix profile. Rupees for flat work are stronger than metallic reinforcement in slab on grAde

So that yard and quarter will cost 3.80 times 52 80 lbs bags is like 200.00. That same yard and a quarter from a truck with a 3 1/2 yard delivery will cost you another 250-300 after short load and delivery, fuel surcharge etc. so yea there is a problem with you math.
