On our sites the groundworkers get premixed dryish slabmix with very small (5ml) stones. I've never seen one yet where they don't start rocking within days, the pointing is hollow and you wouldn't need a pressure washer to blast it out just blowing through a drinking straw would do it at least this looks sturdy and will last. That's the problem with site work it's about speed but they haven't worked out yet it takes 3 times as long after doing remedials.

So many people saying wrong way how will this fail. It will be solid as can be laying on sharp sand is old fashioned

I do this method too instead of pouring concrete substrate first

Compacted rock is used under brick paved roads where I live in Australia, trucks and cars drive over them all day long for years and they are all still in position. Any reason you do the the extra work of a mortar bed?

Sharp sand my mush give you a bit mor bulk and screed it out wet mix obvcourse good looking job though
