I think everyone can agree...Avatar: The Last Airbender set the bar REALLY high

Your Zuko costume’s pretty good, but your scar’s on the wrong side

In ATLA Aang consulting with Avatar Roku was a pretty regular thing. I really would have liked to see more of that in Korra - her talking with Aang more.

On the subject of Aang's actions as a father, I can buy that he might not be a good father. What I can't buy, however, is that there was never a time when Katara gave him a reality check on favoring Tenzin. That seems like EXACTLY the kind of thing she would do.

I love Korra but i've got three problems:

1- The first season finale
2- The love triangle
3- Not enough cabbages

I see Toph being a cop as interesting character development. Not only does she take a 180 on her original belief on authority, but she even takes a 360. She hates authority, becomes a cop to improve it, realizes the system the sucks, hates authority again with a more educated stance. Character development isn't always linear, and isn't always on screen

Aang literally felt isolated as a kid when everyone found out he was the avatar l, I highly doubt his kind heart would allow him to do the same to his own children.

I remember when the spirits were a mystical and foggy area in the lore of ATLA. Spirits used to be hard to comprehend in a way. Season 2 just turned all of that into transparent Pokemon and astral projection.

My only problem really was they didn't talk enough about cabbage. Still the show is good but every show has its problems.

My biggest issue was the relationship between Bolin and Eska. It treats female on male relationship abuse as a laughing matter. That was the only thing that made me go "WTF??" and that I can't find any justification for.

Another issue that LoK has is the fact that they did Katara wrong. She doesn't get her own statue, despite the fact that she was not only a water bending master, but she also helped save the world. Basically everyone in the gaang got their own statue except for Katara. Also I wish they added her in more flashbacks, she wasn't in any. I wanted to see her still fighting with the gaang against that one bloodbender in the flashbacks. And if Aang was actually favoring Tenzin over his other kids, which seems so unlike Aang. Then Katara, being the person she is would have said something. They made her out to be this quiet obedient housewife who doesn't speak up for herself or anyone else, which is unlike Katara. And also the way Aang grew up, and the fact that he seemed so loving and caring in the original series, it's so weird that they made him care abt one person over the others. I get that tenzin was an airbender and aang was probably excited, but it seems so unlike him to choose favorites. But what got me the most mad is the way that they killed off all of Korra's past lives, they destroyed the last piece of the original series we had. Don't call the series a spinoff if we have nothing from the original series. It honestly made me furious the way they made her past lives disappear, and just shatter. I don't even think I need to get started on how messed up and toxic the realationships were in this show, they were so random that it seems like they listened to a bunch of fans on some random website, Korra and Asami had an amazing friendship, but they had to turn it into a relationship, also Mako cheated on both girls twice, what-
Also I wish they gave a little more detail on some original characters, like the fact that we barely know anything abt how Sokka lived his adult life, I wish they at least told us how he died. LoK is fine ig, but atla is wayy better.

Personally I would say the love triangle was one of the worst things in the LOK. It was like the creators had no idea what relationships are like.😂

“Aang doesn’t have a bad bone in his body”

*remembers that encounter with the sand benders in the desert

My personal three problem of LoK; unnecassary romance; aang bad father troupe, Korra being cooped up in the South Pole while mastering bending instead of journeying and immersing their culture and belief which is the point of maintaining a balance between nations by understanding their point of view

The fact that she lost contact with her past lives was complete horrible

Even though it’s logical that Aang would be more invested in Tenzin, I don’t believe that he would neglect his other children the way that is implied in the series. For example, I can’t imagine Aang deciding to take only Tenzin to multiple vacations, doesn’t make any sense considering Aang’s kind heart.

I don't think The Legend of Korra was bad. I just prefer Avatar: The Last Airbender

I actually liked the idea of korra being a hot headed fist girl that used brut force and really struggled with her spiritual side, and because of that struggled with airbending, however they wet about it all wrong, they shouldn't have just given korra airbending when she lost her powers at the end of season one, they should have had her lose all her bending and in season 2 use seeing her struggling without her bending and through her struggles appreciateing her bending more and grow spiritual and that unclockes her avatar stay where she meets aang and gets her bending back including air since she's started understanding bending and started to appreciate the spiritual side more

One of my biggest gripes with the show was the changes made to bending. In TLA mastery of an element seemed genuinely so difficult, in Korra it seems main characters are just naturally gifted or new skills just somehow come to them. Remember how hard it was for Aang to learn fire and especially earth. Meanwhile toddler korra is just casually bending all 4 elements in the first 5 minutes of the show. Fow me it makes the bending way less cool. Instead of an artform that takes mastery and concentration, it's like they are just casting magic spells.
