How You Create Time and Space in Your Own Mind

In this talk on how your mind creates time and space Rupert Spira discusses how memory creates time and how space is a consequence of universal consciousness localising itself in the form of each of our finite minds.

He explains that space-time is not inherent in the fabric of reality — it is a mental construct. We think that time creates our memories but it's the other way around - memory creates time. Our individual minds forget things in time and his sense that there are numerous forgotten events creates the sense of time.

Now imagine that universal consciousness goes through a similar process of forgetting — not with events but with objects. So, instead of universal consciousness experiencing all objects simultaneously, it localizes its view and only experiences a small group of objects. Where is it going to house all the other objects that it is not aware of? In space.

In other words, time and space is as a result of the localizing of infinite consciousness in the form of each of our minds.

The ringing noise between pauses made me think of aliens in space 😂

"if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail"

If all you have is a mind, everything looks like spacetime.

Here is a poem I wrote for you Rupert. I love you

Dear Rupert,
You came to us
At a time
In which we were spiritually
licking our lips.
Just reaching and searching
for the taste of the
Feast
we had worked eons to prepare.
Setting down our forks,
knives, spoons, cups, saucers, and
Tongs,
You helped us see,
our Feast
we had already consumed.
Now, we can enjoy dessert
together, as one family.
Longing gone, groping dead, ;
we thank you for taking away our menu
and giving us the
"I"
Instead.

It's like Bernardo Kastrup's "dashboard" analogy: the material world, space-time, is how we conceptualize the universe. So we can work with it and in it.

Wow, Rupert always expresses the inexpressible so well! We are very lucky to have him sharing this knowledge ❤! 🙏 thank you

That is the best explanation I've heard about time/space. I've heard physicists and other people attempt to define it in a way that's easy to understand, but couldn't.

Beautiful metaphor, I am very curious about how you acquired this knowledge, teacher. Hope we all have the ability to do that.🙏

Rupert says at 4:01 that “spacetime is not inherent in the fabric of reality. It is a mental construction.”

‘Spacetime’ is a concept of theoretical physics. ‘What is reality? (Or inherent in the fabric of reality) is a philosophical question addressed in metaphysics.

The demarcation line between the two disciplines is clear. Was the line crossed in Rupert’s statements and is it justifiable?

You could see space as being everywhere so it is not moving, it stops at no surface, everything is open to this space and permeated with it. Time is movement a wave through the stillness of space. One space one movement. "'Everything'", is appearing and disapperaing in space via the movement of time.

Time is the result of sheer mental hoarding.

My belief here is that we create reality in the moment through beliefs, perception, and choices. Your metaphor about the orange colored glasses fits nicely here for me. But I have a hard time with this when I try to include memory in the mix. I can understand that I create the event I remember in this moment but what is it in me that holds the notion of the memory? For example, I can remember being in a grocery store with my father and being so small that I couldn't peer over the counter. I can remember the perspective of my child's view of this. But what is it that tells me this happened at all? And why is it that each time I remember this, it's the same? One drawback I see is attempting to figure out the mind by using the mind; figuring out thought by thinking. HAHA! Yet there's always that impulse, that drive to know and understand.

wow wow has expanded his consciousness to universal awareness and hand crafted / painted this reality for us.. some of this can only be experienced and not expressed..indeed human language is the biggest limitation to spiritual growth

So people with dementia who are unable to retain their memories, time has virtually vanished. Yet, the consciousness/awareness is still enclosed and perhaps remains below thought. Like when someone takes a drug or drinks alcohol they sink below thought? Is that what is going on with dementia patients?

i just love it how words come to the mind of the form called "Rupert" and bring a taste of itself with it. It is as if the origin of the words underlay the words, without being disturbed or changed by any filter met upon by a finite mind. They point directly to what cannot be expressed through words on a intellecutally understood level, so that realisation can be.

Thank you, Rupert, for sharing your abundant insights into the nature of "reality." I whole-heartedly agree (through direct experience) with what you're sharing. The "world, " in fact, appears quite different now...according to inner change and re-cognition of the Truth of my Being. Blessings. 🙏🏻
