I have this feeling it isn't a "mistake", it is an MBA telling them not to waste money doing things right because they still sell without the fix.

LPL picked the lock faster than he could say ”so you can see it’s not a fluke” 😂

You should make an instructional video on the most common flaws found in locks. I can't imagine that a list of them in one video could be ignored nearly as easily.

let’s see what totally normal video he’ll make on april 1st

One thing to pick a lock mutiple ways but another to say how to improve it, then show how it could be improved with no additional tooling by using an easily accessible part.
Truly impressive

A lot of these lock companies are sure stubborn.

I want to imagine he carries those bypass guards with him so if he’s out and about and encounters a bypassable lock he can quickly pick, disassemble, fix, and reassemble it

What you can consider doing is selling aftermarket lock improvement kits where you add security pins and additions to correct these flaws. I'd think if you could turn a cheap lock into an expensive lock that you would consider using that is worth a few dollars to a loyal fan.
Thanks for your videos.

Wow, with all the fancy locks that only take magnets or wave rakes to open recently, it's been a while since I've heard "3 is binding, nothing on 2, click out of 1..." Good times

All they had to do was put that shield in place and market it as "new pick resistance recommended by the lock picking lawyer" then people would pay more for that
Thank You for testing locks and verifying or debunking each brand/model quality & performance claims!

HeyMJ.
I work with American brand padlocks frequently, and the older ones had this same vulnerability, and the newer ones have the plate on the back. It's nice to know that someone pays attention!

Trimax Engineer: We can fix this lock with a part that costs a percentage of a penny.
Trimax CEO: All I heard was you trying to take away my yacht.

When I saw that easy click I could feel so much pain. 5 years and not even a single thing changed, pain.

My favorite videos are the ones where the locks are disassembled and we get to see the insides, regardless of what type of lock it is
codybill
It's so relaxing hearing those clicks.

I realize this might seem pedantic, but I don't think lock companies are, "making the same mistake over and over". They know perfectly well what the defects are, and are making the business decision not to correct them, since they don't see how doing so will materially increase sales. The average consumer is going to judge and buy a lock based on cosmetic appeal, and what it feels like in hand. Most people I encounter either cannot or will not even try to understand the difference between picking and bypassing. That's something for people like us to appreciate. Thanks for all the work you do by calling out these company's locks.

Makes me think a good security strategy would be to use locks like this that have been modified with bypass shields, deep cut bitting, and security pins just to confuse pickers.
