RIP to all the noble knights who sacrificed themselves in this video. 😢

It feels like the knight move in game 6 is more of a clearance sacrifice rather than a deflection because the idea would still work if you could just remove the knight from the board and the bishop remained on the same square.. Either way great concepts!

Thank you, Nelson, for these interesting yet practical videos. You share what amount to secrets of chess. How rarely the topics are covered in books and videos.

Another great video! I think I will use the deflections with my bishop as I love using my knights more

16:28 the starting position is not from the game Jonasson - Antgantysson, but probably a reconstruction (of what happened in the ending) that works better. White's advanced pawn was on f6, not e6, attacking both black's queen (on e7) and the bishop on g7. That's when black ignored it, and pushed the pawn to e2, and white took the queen on e7.

That game 7 knight deflection blew my mind! What a way to draw the white queen into a fork and force a trade!! Any other move is game over. Tough to see and all the more reason to learn to look for a draw in a bad situation.

About to watch, hopefully this holds up to that bishop deflection video. That was sick

... was a good video

9:22 Why is this a win? At least it’s not trivial, queen vs rook + knight endgames are tricky.
16:40 The move played in the game was not e7, but the pawn on f6 take the queen on e7. It’s a very famous "resigning in winning position" example.
