I'm married to a Korean and there's definitely no beating around the bush. He's very straightforward with everything.

"I can assume your gender, if it is okay" I'm still laughing because this is how he started the conversation

Korean dating: That just sounds like tsundere behavior.

American dating: I have a great relationship with you. Along with my parents, friends, and my dog!

(not on the same level of course)

Swear to God, the American one is accurate. Everybody wants the benefits of having a label without actually having a label.

In kdramas, Jealousy and possessiveness are portrayed to be cute. Controlling is equated to caring. These kind of scenes really suffocate me. Having boundaries is important but I wouldn't want to report every minute of my day nor I would want to ask my significant other to do the same

The American one is so accurate sadly. It wasn't always like this but the last 10 years have gotten particularly bad. I think app dating has made things worse. Now people think you're crazy if you dare to suggest becoming an exclusive boyfriend or girlfriend in a short time, and wanting marriage people think you're "desperate"

As a Canadian, I can confirm I have no idea if this is accurate or not.

I met a Korean guy on a dating site 2+ decades ago. He took me to a sushi place on Sunset Blvd in Sunset Plaza portion of it (high end stores etc.) for a first date. 2nd date I chose a modest diner in Larchmont Village near Korea Town. He was very straightforward, telling me he’s looking to get married during the second date. I was totally freaking out because I wasn’t even sure I was that attracted to him.

Daebek! Towards the end, Her "guilty face" spoke volumes during His questioning.
"Stoppp..." 🤣 Thanks for this "caught-in-the-act video to kick-start my day. 💜

As an American woman, I hate dating so I’m glad I’m not doing it anymore. If this one doesn’t work, I’m moving in with my besties and we’ll be the Gen X Golden Girls

I am Korean, and I am going to an university in the US.
So to the Americans(or who understand this) here, let me ask you some question.

Why can't you just define the relationship? Why can't you just say "So we are dating?" or "Can I be your boyfriend?" directly? Is that not a American thing? Does it take time to justify as "Lovers"?
In Korea, I think we just directly ask to be in a relationship. Of course, not right after they met, but there is like a moment when you check that are we ready to be in a relationship, called "Ssum"(썸). And I know that Americans have a LONG ssum, and don't justify their relationship easily.
Then, how can you check that you are dating or not? Do you have to check all the time like "Sooo what are we?" like in this video? Wouldn't it be easy to just define it at the first time?

Since I am moving to the US and trying to have a girlfriend, advises from everyone will be helpful. Thank you
