Don't look for acceptance. Especially in South Korea.

I wish people would love black people like they love black culture.

They're not even accepting their own people if they don't keep up with the beauty standard.

Lighter skin is what they preferred in Korea just like Philippines. I am considered ugly back home because I am darker skin than my siblings. But here in the states they said I am pretty and I just laugh because at least here I am pretty instead of ugly!

It appears some Koreans are very picky about which parts of 'black' they prefer
But that's not just Korean specific
That's a trend that is worldwide based on preferences

As a darker-skinned black woman living in Korea, I can honestly say that language is the main issue for many people. I used to feel similarly to this young lady before I became fluent. Yes, some Koreans will have a preference but it is not all of them. Just like not all black women prefer such and such.

Before I met my Korean fiancé I didn’t have issues dating because I speak Korean. There are a lot of good Korean men who would love to date a black woman seriously, but they don’t speak English. 😩 If you want better options, don’t just go for guys who speak English. If you can’t speak the language, then you’re going to have a much harder time if you’re black. Is it fair? No, but it’s the truth from my experience and from the black women I’ve seen around me.

And just like someone commented earlier, a lot of Westerners are too concerned with race because that’s what we grew up listening to nonstop. Korea has its issues and prejudices, as any other country. I’m not saying it’s right or perfect.

The best thing you can do for yourself as a black woman in Korea, if you’re serious about staying long-term, is to actually learn the language and the culture. And don’t look at people for validation. You’ll get lots of Koreans to compliment you and gas you up if you just smile and hold a nice conversation (in Korean).

Best of luck to anyone in a similar situation 🙆🏾‍♀️❤️

I completely feel her because I have been going through something similar and at this point I’ve given up on dating as a whole.
If it happens, it happens (but I’m not banking on it).

Although this woman has every right to go to the places she wants, people shouldn’t go to a country such as South Korea seeking validation and acceptance from such a close-minded nation.

의미없는 남자들의 관심따위에 상처 받지마시고 즐겁고 행복한 시간 많이 보내셨으면 좋겠어요😢

I wish her good luck.
I am a South Korean who lived in southern states of US, I felt the exact same thing for first 3 years. No matter what I do, it was really hard to find a date. Missed every homecomings during those times and even felt depressed.
As time goes by, I have got better at having actual conversations with people and started to understand their cultures.
It is still somewhat difficult to find a date with people other than Asian but after understanding their languages and culture, I found out it is not impossible to go out with them!
Living in whole different culture is very hard, I hope she finds a beautiful man soon.

And in African countries, no one would find Asian men desirable. That's literally just life

People got to understand we live in an imperfect world. Just because you're open minded and accepting don't mean other people will be. I used to think I was below average and ugly based on a rejection that messed me up for years. I learned that I'm not desired by everyone and that's okay. Someone will appreciate you better than you could ever think or imagine. Honestly I feel more filled by being accepted by God. If it's in His purpose I will meet someone. If not there is more to life than worrying about people seeing my values. ❤

I watched various videos on this channel. And I have lived in many different countries. It is true that whites are more familiar than blacks to Koreans. but The problem with Westerners is that their way of thinking is too obsessed with the concept of 'race'. I have a beautiful black female friend who lives in Korea. She is asked out on dates by tons of Korean men. I have many friends who are white but not popular in Korea. The woman in this video is beautiful enough. But she's a normal person. But the woman who said she was popular because she is white on this channel is a beautiful woman above average. Korean men are also men. Men's feelings are simple. Heterosexual men aren't that picky. Men approach women who are simply attractive. That's it... It is true that racism must be eliminated in everywhere, but I hope that we have to be not obsessed with the concept of 'race' too much that we will turn away from the truth.

People who go to korea in search of that kpop or kdrama romance are in for a big surprise. It also speaks to how naive they really and they cant distinguish reality from fantasy.

I know it is hard and South Korea but it is also hard here in America. At school people call me the N word and one girl told me nobody would date me because I was black.. Though South Korea is harsh it’s the whole world honestly 😢
