The Honda CRF250L (model designation MD38) is a dual-sport motorcycle, part of the Honda CRF series, manufactured by Honda for their global market. It was first released in 2012 for the 2013 model year.
It combines a high-efficiency, fuel-injected DOHC single-cylinder counterbalanced engine, and electric starter with a comfortable, neutral seating position, headlight, taillight, turn signals, mirrors, EPA and California Air Resources Board compliant exhaust system.
In 2021 it was replaced by Honda CRF300L. The engine was replaced in order to be compliant with EURO 5 emissions standard.
Honda CRF300L, Balance is the key when riding any motorcycle. And we’re not talking about just balancing on two wheels: We’re talking about the balance between size, weight, power and handling that makes some bikes great—like the new Honda CRF300L. Based on our previous CRF250L, for 2021, it gets a larger engine with more torque and a whole host of chassis and suspension refinements. What you end up with is one of the best-balanced bikes ever for on- and off-road use. Perfect for weekend trail rides, it’s also among the best choices ever for commuting or urban transportation. And if you’re looking for a version with a windscreen and Dakar-inspired bodywork for a little more weather protection, make sure you check out our new CRF300L Rally.

after debating for months between a 250 or 300, i just couldnt justify the $7300+ out the door for a new 300 (tax, title, lic, dest, setup, doc fees). instead I found a beauty 17 CRF250L ABS with an EJK tuner, a full FMF exhaust, new rubber, with only 3K miles, and like showroom new condition. i stole it for $4300. i put another $800 in it for the suspension and shes PERFECT! so total...$5100.
the 300 needs all the same stuff (tires, tuner, pipe, suspension)....about $9000 all said and done.

the 50cc's (and its really only 37cc) isnt worth 4 grand. the best part about the 300 is everybody dumping their 250 for a steal.

Great beginner bike! I've been riding 2 wheeled vehicles 55years & its great for us old timers too! The softer suspension keeps the bones from rattling!

Been riding since 11 years old. 65 now and bought a CRF300L back in 2021. Great bike for the money. Had a DR 650 in the past. I liked the grunt, but it was top heavy. The 300L is so much more manageable. I do have a couple Harley’s for the street riding. Ride safe brother!

Good video, I have just ridden my 250 rally from the U.K. to Cape Town via the west coast of Africa it’s an awesome little budget bike, upgraded the suspension to hyperpro fron and rear, fitted a camel tank, and Pirelli Mt 21s, it done the job well, glad I didn’t take me 1190

I just picked up my CRF300L on Friday. I was lucky enough to find a dealer close by who had one. I still had to drive 3hrs to get it but I think it was worth it. The only problem is there is still too much snow on the ground here and I am playing the waiting game. Watching your videos all the time just to try and ease the itch to ride lol. I traded my CRF250F trail bike for this because I wanted more versatility. I can't wait to give this a good try! Thanks for the awesome vids sir!

I upgraded from a 1993 XR250L to a 2021 CRF300L. Talk about stepping into the future! I love both bikes. Nice review. I'm glad I waited until the 300 came out, because if I bought the CRF250L, I'd likely not have bought the 300.

Great video, this is the reason I bought a 300l. While it has enough power, a little more would be good. Can’t wait to see your additions.

Excellent comparison video. I bought a slightly used 250L this past January and I like it. I’ll probably end up with a 300L eventually, because everything I hear or read about the improvements over the 250 makes me think it would be a better bike for me. I look forward to more videos. New sub.

Thank you for this review, as I was very curious about how they would compare. I currently own a 2014 250L and aside from the extremely uncomfortable, stock seat, I have no complaints. I purchased a Seat Concepts low comfort seat, since I'm 5' 4", and it made it so much better. I do mostly back roads, dirt and gravel roads, but not too many trails as we don't have them available close by. Wish we did as that's what I grew up riding on

Great video! I'm thinking about the CRF300L for commuting daily and for a weekend on adventure mode. Greetings from Los Andes mountains in Chile 🇨🇱

Thanks for the comparison. I own a CRF300L Rally and I love it. I just came back from the Giant loop ride in South East Oregon USA and the bike road like a dream on and off road. I was able to cruise on the highway at 65 to 70 with out any problem at all. Off road this bike is just as good as you have said. Great bike!

Was thinking of getting a 300L but just got a 2015 CRF250L with only 3, 000 miles on it for £3, 000 just couldn't see the point paying extra £2, 000 for 300L.
And 250L feels so light after my BMW G650GS SERTAO.

I really appreciate this video. I bought a crf250l last year and have really enjoyed it. I’m going to keep it for my kids, but you made a great argument for the 300. I will be going to my local Honda dealer next week.
Thanks so much.

The review I have been waiting for… thanks mate. As a CRF250L owner, love that bike once you make a few changes. Putting specs aside. In the real world the CRF300L works well due to the sum of it’s parts. Only problem with it is Honda and lack of supply. Well at least here in Oz. If they can sort that it may get more of a following. For me my goal is to get hold of the new Yamie T7. Also hard to source. I would be keen to hear your honest review of it. Cheers 🍻

Andrew - this video is such a fantastic resource for anyone interested in either the 250L or 300L. Thank you!

Another great video! I would definitely be interested in a dual sport tire video if that's something you were considering.

Good review man. I am leaning towards the 300L, over the 450L, but it's nice to know how the bike progressed from the 250.

ONE hundred and fifty dollars increase!
And you've convinced me. I'm getting one, when I can find one!

Excellent video and comparison. Had a 2013 250L for 5 years. Added several mods. Didn’t like the 5 speed tranny but I learned to use it. Bought a Bonneville T120 for a replacement. Been missing off roading ever since. Am considering the 300L now. Also looking at the Ducati Desert Sled, but that’s a different animal. Your video has helped a lot! Thanks Daniel.
