Which brand new DeWalt Impact driver is better?

We test multiple Fasteners from 1-1/2" all the way to 8" lags even a 1" speed bore. The results are shocking!

Prices stated at the end of the video are current and not hacks or glitches.

840 comes with 2 1.5 Ah Batteries while the 850 comes with 1 5.0 Ah battery.

Fam I did not see this coming at all!

Some of you guys are asking for links

840

850

Go check out my buddy run some tests on both drills as well!

Yes I’ve spoken with @TorqueTestChannel they know about the 840 hope they confirm out results. There’s going to be a mad rush on the cheap 840s after this.

I think it all comes down to what u need it for… if you are in the business of remodeling kitchens and interiors etc etc then the 850 will give u more versatility but if you are a contractor and time is money plus you already own a light weight more versatile line like the Xtreme 12v impact and all you need is speed and power then ill go with the 840… for ppl in the construction business time is money and while u screwdrive 100 screws with the 850, the one with the 840 might be 20 screws ahead of you 👌🏻

Thanks Joe! I think it ultimately comes down to which form factor you prefer. Short and stubby with speed selector, or long and thin with variable speed trigger. Oh, and price difference too! Performance looks about the same to me.

Got the 840. $99 kit at Lowe’s. Can’t beat that deal. 850 probably better for tight areas. 840 has 400 more ipm’s.

On a 10 inch lag screw you gave dcf840 quite an advantage.

I now have the 840 and 850 both tools are quite powerful it just depends on the application you need them for, The 850 for tighter spaces and the 840 is a very capable impact tool with no function buttons. Both will get the job done 👍

Thanks for this, its very clear the 840 is smaller and faster the 850 is a refresh but fatter and a tad slower same torq.

They both have variable speed triggers.... the DCF850 has 3-speeds for the motor while the other doesn't. The DCF850 is for versatile work getting into tight spaces and allows you to do light cabinetry work on Speed 1 as well as blast lag screws or bolts at the same time on Speed 3. DCF850 is my favorite driver right now because I'm not drilling 5000 screws during a job I'm just doing some mounting, automotive work, and driving some screws into wood/metal. It's so light and compact and I love the way the chuck operates it's very clean start/stop and the sound is better. No weird crunching noise when you stop the motor by letting off the trigger completely. Also you have to pair the DCF850 with the new Powerstack battery to get the full benefit as it keeps the compact/lightweight nature of it intact while giving you the power of a 5Ah battery.

Told ya…

Results were actually closer than I thought.

It’s all in the ipm. 4200 vs 3800. Same rpms.

The 850 will put slightly more ttc beans due to heavier and wider impact hammer mechanism.
