The 887 was released in 2016, what are yall doing not testing out the 845? Also both companies have stacked lithium batteries, why not test those?

The poor 887 has been fighting the good fight on yt for almost a decade lol

Cost, batteries, that only matters to homeowners. When it comes to pros, the ONLY thing that matters is how does it do in the field and what kind of warranty you're getting. Nothing lasts forever, but you're not going to buy something that you have to keep replacing. I can't wait to start buying Flex tools. They continually up the game. They remind of me Bosch when they were at their height, just dominating everything across the board. When you bought a Bosch, you knew you could beat it like it owed you money and it'd just turn around and say, "Thank you sir. May I have another?" Now, I'm far from a DeFault fan. In fact, I hate them because when I was running my own company and a brand new compressor I bought from them failed, they refused to honor the warranty and told me that it was going to cost me $150 to replace the motor of a NEW compressor that I was using on my first job with it. I told them to go to hell.

Having said that, 20V vs 24V is not a fair test. Of course the Flex (which I'll be buying from now on) is going to cream the DeFault.

I just completed a roofing project and the 24v Flex impact out performed my 20v Dewalt impact.

Why wouldn’t you put it up against the new Dewalt XR?

I have DeWalt stuff, and have no issues with the results here. The issue with Flex is how heavy it is, and how (currently) limited their tool range is compared to DeWalt. I'm not a pro, and I'll never use either tool at its limits, so comfort is really my biggest issue, and DeWalt tools have great grips that just feel awesome in the hand. Mix that with a much lighter tool, and that's a good combo. Personally I'd go with the 850 in any case, then you also got a much smaller tool as well. With all that said, if Flex sticks around and expands their range, I'll certainly consider them in the future. I love my Ego lawn stuff, and I love how much more modern of a take Flex has on tools, so I hope they push the other makers to modernize their feature sets.

I have flex tools, boxes, batteries, etc., for my school shop (I teach ag mechanics.) And I have DeWalt in my personal shop right now. I LOVE the flex stuff; they've been good at getting jobs done and standing up to daily use from high school students. My biggest problems (and why I consider switching platforms occasionally) are availability, price, and limited products, although we haven't hit that wall too hard yet. But when we prefer to use the closer, smaller hardware store over Lowes, it becomes a lot harder to just pick up a tool at any store like you can with Dewalt. I hope Flex will expand to more stores, but seeing as the current revival of Flex is a collaboration by Lowes and Chevron tools, I doubt it.

The DCF887M2 kit might be a fairer price comparison, with two 4AH batteries rather than the 2AHs.

I like flex tools as I have 5. However, as other people commented the lineup of tools for Flex is limited. I do hope they come out with additional tools as it is nice to use one tool platform for battery purposes.

I have combo sets of both. Give me the flex all day. Yes, heavier but that extra heavyness helps in driving power.

It’s pretty clear when one has more volts, more rpm, and more power. Only had to watch the first 1:30

The results were as expected; not really a wonder tbh. Not really a fair comparison IMO, the 887 is really getting long in the tooth.

I have both dewalt amd flex. I can say without question flex is insanely good. With fkwx releasing new tools on the regular its a matter of time till they have as many options as dewalt

Flex is damn near impressive and the lifetime tool and battery warranty has been officially extended thru 2025! Flex wins.

A brand new model vs. one that is nearly a decade old? I'm no fanboy either way, my power tool bench looks like skittles, but c'mon. How about giving it a fair comparo. Why not the 850 or 840?

I've always been a dewalt guy. But that was when they were made in America. But that's gonna change if the sawzaws are that much better
