the cold TRUTH! is Zhongli still worth it in 2.4? | Genshin Impact

Zhongli is regarded by the majority of the Genshin Impact community as one of the strongest support units in the entire game for his massive shielding power and the crazy utility that his shields bring. So it isn't a surprise that his 3rd banner rateup slated for the later half of 2.4 has drawn a lot of hype, but it has also drawn a lot of questions as to his worth, considering the recent and large amount of inadvertent nerfs to shielding. So today, we're gonna discuss the cold truth and answer the question 'Is Zhongli still worth your primogems in 2.4?'

Since I'm a Genshin Impact boomer, I remember there was a time when Zhongli was considered underwhelming, but the truth is that he's the most massive possible upgrade anyone could make to their account if they don't have him yet. Best of luck to those pulling for him in 2.4!

I mean even if the enemies in next patches will ignore shields he still will be very usefull with fighting other bosses like the regisvines, hypostasises or even signora so hes gonna be big help no matter what

Zhongli has always been a comfy boi. He's never gonna be in a damage showcase outside of his own, but convenience certainly counts for something.

I have Kokomi and to be honest she's doing an amazing job in my Ayaka freeze comp, but the problem is that there's only one Kokomi so I'm definetly gonna pull for Geo daddy, but if I don't get him I'll not be sad.

I've seen so many people say not to pull for zhongli, and their reason is, "Just dodge" like no mf, my keyboard is shit, I play with 300ms lag and i get stagger comboed half the time, Zhongli is a good fricking unit and anyone who says that shielders are a crutch is clearly playing with a full frickin gaming rig that allows them to reliably dodge every single attack

I’ve had him long before the drama of him being weak his upcoming buff got me more pumped that I rolled for a 2nd copy before his banner ended best thing I did now I use him as a hybrid support to spam shield and Ult great for my c5 Eula

Yo forgot to mention that his burst petrified mobs for a good amount of time, he's the only one in the game who can do this. With Zhongli you don't even need a freeze squad if you have enough er, you just petrify the enemy until they are dead and they can't do anything to you.

I am guaranteed one banner 5 star in phase 2, with a not great, but decent chance to get both. So I asked myself a lot which character I should prioritise. I was leaning towards Zhongli, but was not sure. So, thank you, this video was very helpful.

The thing about shields is it’s not JUST the dmg absorption. The interruption resistance is just as important. Corrosion can’t go through the interruption resistance

To those that had Zhongli since his first release, pulls for his const on his second rerun, and is planning to do it again in the next banner, aka making it very very possible for f2p to have c6 Zhongli remember; his c6 makes Zhongli a healer.
If only Im rich and Yae Miko isn't 2.6, I would've pull for Zhongli in a heartbeat.

Honestly shields are still extremely good because while they can’t block frost, burn, bleed, etc. they still block damage both physical and elemental. Meaning that without a shield you’re vulnerable to these effects as well as normal damage. Zhongli in particular is irreplaceable for the buffs he gives and his burst.

Also maybe an unpopular opinion but despite being super annoying, corrosion is a good choice gameplay wise. It encourages you to dodge more and keep track of your health instead of relying on a shield while you just spam right click and become completely invulnerable. Moving forward into the game I can’t imagine end game content would be satisfying if shields were as broken as they are early game. Imagine getting to the final boss only for it to feel lackluster due to Zhongli blocking every bit of damage. These changes are making typical well rounded teams more reliable and opening up parties to more than just the typical Zhongli, Hu Tao, Xingqiu, Bennet or other meta combinations. We’re encouraged to have a shield and healer on one team now, which I like. This also means we’ll see better shields and healing characters in the future if they end up becoming more meta.

Raiden Shogun doesn't actually need a shielder. During her burst, her interruption resistance is so high, there's nothing that will stop her.
