I think it's because when you live in the city everything feels like a competition. There are so many people around that you feel you need to impress and it's easy to become insecure. City people generally are more connected to the media and their idea of the perfect person, therefore in the city we tend to be more judgemental towards ourselves and others. So I feel city people can get sad more easily. I'm not generalizing all city people though, it's just an observation.

It honestly depends on my mood, like one day I wanna live in NYC and the next I wanna be in the middle of nowhere.

I have lived in the city and then moved to the country. I can 100% say I am way happier and more relaxed living in the country. I love it everyone is so much more friendly and I would never move away :)

I live in Dubai. The only country side I have, is the desert.

I've lived in both bigger cities and small towns. They both have their perks and down sides.

Cities make me depressed. I mean, seeing all the trash and garbage all over the place and homeless people everywhere, it just doesn't sit well with me.

I live in the country and it is amazing! When I go to the city it smells, is dirty, and all you hear is cars honking at each other!

Living in the country was defiantly some of the best years of my life. Considering how much land we had, it left so much room to explore. It had areas to get away and a huge area to throw parties without anyone bothering us. I'd go back in a heart beat

The secret is to live in a small town near a big city. Balance is key.

Of course country folk are happier. Lush country scenery, or concrete jungle? 1 acres of peace and quiet to yourself, or neighbors 2 feet away?

The fact that the thumbnail and the title don't have the country or city on the same sides as each other to match up makes me feel uncomfortable

in country, everyone knows eachother. in city, there are just a bunch of creeps locked in little apartament rooms (joke)

I prefer the country because it’s more comfortable.

I live in a small town/country I guess you could say. Personally I think it's the worst. Drama gets around, and it's hard to find someone to connect with. I'm not country whatsoever, but everyone around me is. I find it hard to consider myself happy here, but then again maybe i just need to switch towns?

City people tend to connect their happiness to what they own

I was born and raised in a city but we go back to my parent's rural hometown every summer and I can say, I prefer the countryside more than the city. Yes the city has its buildings and stuff but everything is fastpaced and its hard for me to keep up, and often stressing me out. In the countryside, its just more peaceful and chill.

I've lived in cities, rural towns, and the suburbs. I definitely prefer the suburbs. Nice, quiet neighborhood, but shopping and restaurants are very close. It doesn't take more than 15min to get just about anything that we could ever want or need.

I live in the country in Ireland and I couldn't be happier! Such beauty, open spaces and clean air.
I presume I'll move to a city for a few years when I'm working but I can't imagine bringing up children there.

I am totally a city person. I have all I want very close to me and the "stressful city life" never bothered me. I ap much more uncomfortable in country because I get bored easily
