In this second part of my SPSS for beginners tutorial series, I will teach you how you can create variables in SPSS, by using syntax or by using variable menus. This will include using the Compute Variable tab, the "Recode into same variables" tab, and the "Recode into different variables" tab. Furthermore, I will teach you how to make variable labels.

I am a registered clinical epidemiologist and working as a fellow in medical oncology in the Netherlands. I have published over 50 manuscripts and have received several large research grants. I am particularly interested in research in geriatric oncology and am a an active member of the International Society for Geriatric Oncology.

Can I ask you a trick question? How the dates of birth sholud be put into the table: different columns for day/month/year or in one column for example 01012000?
