I have heard this piece so many times, and this is one of the best versions I have heard so far. Amazing!

What a SUBLIME interpretation of this work. That's the Yuja I love, and why I am one of her fans. If Social Media influencers would bring more of Yuja playing like this instead of razzling-dazzling bravado encores of hers, many of her critics who see her as a "piano banger" and "cheap show-off" would have to swallow their comments!!

One of my favorite piano pieces played in the most beautiful way I ever heard. "Clarté française"...Ravel would love it! ❤❤

Makes me want to swim in the sea after 20 years. Only if the temperature is 18 degrees C though. Ah yes. Muizenberg!

Yuja Wang, the legend and mythical pianist (Aurelia Virtus) – With each performance, Yuja Wang redefines the boundaries of piano artistry. A boundless artist, transcending all limits, her unparalleled technique, intricate tactics, and strategic intelligence transform each piece into a unique and extraordinary experience. Her playing is not merely a technical display; it is a profound philosophy of emotions and thought that flows through every note. Her performance is akin to painting, where every pedal movement acts as lighting upon the musical canvas, as if each note is carefully crafted with light and shadow. These pedal dynamics, like momentary shifts in light, have a profound impact on the depth of the piece, turning it into a multi-dimensional auditory experience.

Moreover, her exceptionally clear and articulate phrasing distinguishes her from other pianists. Every motif in her performance pulses and beats like a heartbeat beneath her fingers, creating a distinctive flow within each piece, as though breathing new life into the music. Her artistry stands as a living legend, a magic that resonates deeply with the audience and remains etched in their memories forever.

As an international critic, commentator, analyst, and researcher of art and music, a philosopher, and an aesthete, I wish nothing but the very best for the icon of the modern piano era. I bow in deep respect to her unparalleled artistry, and I honor her golden hands from afar, recognizing the profound impact she has made in the world of music."

I love when Yuja dive-bombs certain pieces but it's nice to know she knows her way around nuance and the ethereal.

Nice to see this piece getting so much attention in recent years. I think this version by Martha Argerich is also worth listening to:
