Fishing Line Spool Chokes Baby Seal

For a curious and playful seal pup, a bright red fishing spool is simply irresistible. He likely noticed this intriguing toy floating in the water, perhaps tossing it around or attempting to swim through it. However, since seals cannot swim backward, once the spool slipped over his neck, the direction of his fur prevented him from escaping. Given his age and growth rate, it was only a matter of weeks before he would have starved or suffocated. The fishermen who left this fishing line spool behind will never know how their carelessness nearly killed a young animal.
