My dad (when he was in his 80s) used to bring extra bottles of wine onboard by putting them into prune juice bottles, saying his Dr wants him to drink prune juice daily for "medicinal purposes." He said no one ever questioned it! (P.S. He lived until age 98!)

Plainly stated everywhere no booze. Why are people shocked that smugglers wouldn’t face repercussions when caught? The shipboard drinks are pricey but so is the local bar these days, not much difference. It’s not an issue for us as my wife doesn’t drink and I only have a couple during a cruise on any of the cruise lines. But have bought the Plus package on Princess as it’s a decent deal. Espresso, Americano, tea, virgin drinks are nice to enjoy without having to think about the final bill at the end of the voyage.

We need more options with the drink package, maybe more flexibility, how many days we want or how many drinks a day..that package is expensive!

The best thing to do is if you accidentally brought alcohol in checked baggage and they never caught it is to consume the beverage in private inside your stateroom and keep your mouth shut. As for me, I don't drink so I never bring any alcohol at all when I cruise. On Royal Caribbean, I can bring a 12 pack of soda onboard which saves tons of money.

I don't really care for drinking, so I wouldn't try to sneak alcohol onto the ship

We don’t drink wine and always receive a few free bottles. We always give it to the crew.

One of the things that really sucks about carnival is if you buy the drink package but your roommate doesn't drink they still have to pay for another drinks package. I think it's a total rip off. Actually I think I'll drink packages or rip offs. It's a huge money maker. Especially the ones that have drink packages for soda and stuff like that that's a massive rip off.

If one needs to smuggle drinks onboard, the question is whether you really should be on a cruise, can you afford to really ‘relax’? Defeats the purpose of a ‘holiday’.

Carnival limits the number of alcoholic drinks to 15 per day with their "unlimited" package. We stopped sailing with them years ago, but if they still cap at 15 and raise the prices that much, it's not worth it.

Bravo carnival, I think this is a great decision. Rules are made for a reason and like a country has there laws, they are Meant to be adhered too. It would be sad, if like you boys it was a genuine mistake, but I guess where do they draw the line. People would be coming up with a whole pile of stories, some fake, some real as to why they had it on-board with them.

I’m getting so annoyed with their constant “crisis clickbait”. Every time I watch, it’s never that big of a deal. Carnival banning cruisers…..for breaking the (insert eye roll)🙄

I don't drink alcohol, but I do bring a 12-pack of Mountain Dew Zero on my Carnival cruises (cannot order it through The Fun Shop). I have heard occasionally those 12 packs get opened when your carry-on goes through the scanner to make sure you are not trying to sneak cans of beer onboard.

Luckily not a problem...as my partner doesn't drink & I only have a few beverages the whole trip

Thank goodness I am a drinker, so I have zero risk of being banned from the CC conglomerate!
