Well in the version of the story where percephone likes Hades I've always assumed that was just an excuse they both used and then promptly forgot about

Maybe she only eats half of everything she eats in the underworld. Like half an apple, half a grape and half an egg.

I think as soon as she ate the 6 seeds or half the pomegranate hades sort of immediately jumped on the “for 6 months she has to stay in the underworld” thing and Zeus had no authority as it happened in hades realm

i believe that the sacrifices from the mortals is what the gods eat and we know there were sacrifices for Hades and Persephone. She could have lived off of that. Or maybe the gods do not need food but just enjoy the taste of it.

Or maybe she orders takeout food from Hermes, who delivers it to her. He's the courier of the gods after all...

That was only on her first time. She's supposed to stay in the underworld after eating the food but Demeter swore she'll turn the world into a frozen wasteland. Hence, the agreement of Persephone staying six months with Demeter and the rest with Hades. 😁

Maybe that's why Spring is so bountiful since Demeter is growing food to fill Persephone up to last the other half.

I think Hades just doesn't want to deal with Demeter so she can eat what ever and still only say for half of the time.

I thought it was because since she was now Hades' wife, she has dominion over the underworld and can eat whenever she feels like it without repercussion. It was only prior to becoming his wife that she ate the pomegranate that bound her.

The half a year thing was only really a compromise to make Demeter happy, so everything’s probably just fine to eat now, just like food for anyone else living down there.

someone (probably Hermes) could've brought her food made by someone that wasn't in the underworld every time she was supposed to eat

I like the idea that the whole food thing was made up and only became true afterwards as Zues claimed it was how it worked and being Persephone is already of the underworld the effects of the food probably don't work on her anymore
