This video wasn't so much a fight, but rather an epilogue to a rich history of both cars. Still a good vid.

I'm sad to see Mitsubishis halo car gone. I love that rival between the two

Evo & STi are best nemesis but are at the end of the day the bestest friends in the vast car world! Same purpose, similar mechanics / performance.

Anyone else ever see an Evo from a distance coming toward you and think for a second its a GTR?

After owning both of these cars (2010 Evo X MR, and 2015 STi Launch Edition) I can agree that the Subie will go on, but without the Evo as a rival who knows what the future may be.  Rivalry was good for everyone, fans and manufacturers.

Proud owner of a '15 STI Launch Edition, and I've gotta say I'm not happy seeing the Evo go. Yeah the new Golf R and Focus RS are entering stage left, but the Evo still had plenty left in it and was proof that Mitsu could do more than just make boring appliances.

Mitsubishi really messed up by not creating a new evolution. It's like they don't care about the car business; they're too involved in the electrical side of the business.

The STI has a bright future, especially with Subarus recent yearly increase in sales overall. Now that the chassis, suspension and drive train (already really beefy from previous years) have been magnificently fine tuned, the only thing left is the inevitable introduction of a more effecient and stronger motor (though the EJ257 certainly ain't no slouch).

true that, there will never be a rivalry like that. no matter how much the Ford RS wants to be.

So basically your entire review had nothing to do with performance comparison and numbers. I got ripped off. Final fight my ass

The WRX will get the most grief from the Ford Focus RS Mk3 and the Madaspeed3, possibly a version of the VW Golf, as well. VW to my knowledge has not shipped their R36(?) to the US yet. While the WRX will get kudos for being around the longest, much like the Mustang does, it may not, in all actuality, hold up well against the competition. The New Mustang still lags on the Camaro, but the GT350 is not out yet. But if the Z/28 can ace a GT-R on the track, the GT350 has a real fight on its hands.

If anything the price of the WRX will be its saving grace. The F-RS Mk3 is going to start around $38K, that VW Golf in all likely hood will cost about the same or more. buteh MS3 may cost in the middle $30K range. This is mostly because these are special version of regular cars. The WRX has a lot LESS further to stretch to get there.

If Ford opts to make an AWD Focus ST in the upper $20K-range. The WRX may be in serious trouble. Not necessarily from the F-ST AWD but the F-RS being better amortized and cost divested, resulting in a far less expensive car versus the STi.

Still people might just keep eating up the WRX just "because WRX". But the F-RS and MS3 have had their fan followings for years. It could be the Camaro5 all over again, where a huge surge of buyers goes for the new car simply because it is not the other car consistently for several years.

Can't get over the fact they put an ej back in, the fb engine is just so superior in every conceivable way.
A wrx can be easily moded to outdo a sti every where.

True the Evo X will be missed but it was too specialized, the STi wins in the long run. I dont have any preference of brand between these two, i used to be Evo X fan but with the 2015 STI theres nothing left for Evo X, just a higher price and outdated inside and out. It is interesting to note that Subaru is now embracing torque vectoring on the new Forester and that it is the future for WRX but the STIs mechanical approach will hopefully stay untouched.

I am hoping for the competition to go towards both the STi to the new Focus RS now that the Evo will soon be coming to an end.  I am hoping for a good fight between the two...

Having the word fight in the title I was expecting some type of comparison with a winner at the end. What a letdown.

Anyone notice that the Evo was missing the old Recaros??? Maybe the best factory seats of all the Sti and Evo generations.
