My dad was awarded a Silver Star for his actions during the Battle of Casino, Italy. After he passed away, my sister went through his things and found a letter from his Captain. In the letter the Captain apologized that he only nominated my dad for a Silver Star, stating that my dad deserved a Medal of Honor. The Captain explained that an investigation is required for medals higher than a Silver Star. An investigation would destroy some careers of some officers, including a close friend of my dad. My dad also refused two Purple Hearts, saying men who died or lost limbs were awarded a Purple Heart. I am glad my dad is no longer here to witness the cowardice of a former President and how MAGA wants to destroy our democracy.

I was medevac'd out of Afghanistan for a heart condition. I had only been there for three days. I had been training for years to finally deploy. I was infuriated about having to leave my brother's and sister's in arms. I ended up going to Germany then Walter Reed for surgery. After a few months of recovery I insisted on going back to Afghanistan...and you know what, I did! How any Veteran on earth can vote for him is beyond me! 😢
