Medal of Freedom are what Presidents give to their friends. Medal of Honors are earned in battle.

It would’ve been so easy for Trump to make this speech without spitting on injured veterans, but he failed. Maybe his campaign should realize it’s useless to “keep him on message” and accept this is truly who he is inside.

Medal of Honor- is the definition of true patriotism. How do we know this?

A person in my town was awarded the "Medal of Honor" for his actions during the Battle of the Bulge. He was trapped near the crossroads at Rocherath, Belgium. Cut off from his unit, and alone. he spent the night in the open and armed with just a bazooka, and four rockets, took out three lead tanks, , in an SS armored column. He held his position to the last minute when he came under attack by infantry and used his last rocket to killing at least three and wounding others before he took fire from a machine gun, and was wounded. And able to return, under fire to his unit.
His actions held up the German advance for 12 hours and forced them to withdraw and take another route.
He spent his remaining years working at the VA hospital in our town.
He was one of 21 recipients, of the Medal of Honor, during that battle. Twenty one out of 500, 000 U.S. troops, that fought in that engagement.
What Trump did was not a gaffe. It was a mark of disrespect. He made the claim that he deserves the Medal of Honor for avoiding sexually transmitted diseases during the Vietnam War as a civilian.

Freedom and Honor are not a competition. The medal bestowed upon military personnel is an earned medal for bravery, sacrifice, and protection of democracy and the American people. The medal that Trump bestows on his megadonors like Mrs. Adelson and MAGA sycophants like Jim Jordan, are awarded based on fealty to Trump…not earned and not a result of commitment to democracy and the American people. He made it very clear what he values most…fealty to him rather than to democracy and the American people. It couldn’t be made more clearly obvious. Veterans remain suckers in Trump’s eyes. I hope each veteran that has made a basic sacrifice or the ultimate sacrifice has heard Trump’s words. Thank you for your service and sacrifice in the name of freedom and democracy for the American people….vote blue!
