How to improve your listening in English

I'm a native English speaker, but I'm a student of mathematics so I wasn't actually that interested in the language itself. However, I now realise that I was wrong. Basic grammar and syntax is essential if one wants to thrive in the Information Age.

Hey Ronnie, I'm from Brazil and I've been studying English for 13 years now. At first, it was very difficult for me to understand small prepositions and words because people from places that have English as a native language speak very fast, so it was really hard to pick it up. But throught out the years I started to watch a lot of movies and tv shows with subtitles and it helped me to improve my listenig skills. Today, I can watch a tv without any subtitle. By the way, great video.

Hey Ronnie!, thanks for all your advice you share here, I'm really learning pretty much watching your videos... My English tutor recommended me your YouTube channel and I gotta say it was worth it to check it out... By the way, let me add one more advice for people and this is to try to hear some sentences in English and then write them in a peace of paper or even repeat it to check if it's well said and also if you're ptacticying with someone else is trying to repeat the sentences as quick as possible and so, getting more listening skills. It works for me, so I think for someone else, why not!... Cheers from Colombia!

One of the best ways to improve listening is writing down what people say word for word. Choose a video on youtube, open your notepad on your PC and try to write every single word you hear but try not to skip any words. If you're not sure what's just being said go back and listen to a sentence one more time until you finally get it.
