It's actually the complete opposite. If they have been overtly accused, then surely the best path for the defendant is to have the trial so that they can prove their innocence and not have the accusation hanging over them. Unless they ARE guilty.

Talk about a loose cannon. Cannon is as qualified to be a judge as Alina Habba is as a "lawyer". Why is Cannon still on the bench? Why does Habba still hold a law license?
