How to fix windows backup image error 0x80780119 Fix Windows 10 or windows 11 Backup Issues

Показать описание
The 0x80780119 error mostly occurs due to storage issues on the drive where you want to create a system image. The System Reserved partition’s free space is probably not large enough to create a system image. You can create a new System Reserved partition or expand the current one

What triggers the error 0x80780119 when creating a System Image?
Not enough free space in the System Reserved partition – This partition needs to have at least 40 MB of free space if you want to create a system image on that drive. The solution is to either expand this partition or to create a new one.

Only works if you have a System Reserved partition. Many people do not, including me.

This worked for me. I was very worried that it would make things worse but so far it seems to have worked. The system image completed successfully and the pc is working as normal. There were some scary parts including an automated disk repair and one time the computer didnt boot after one of the restarts requiring a hard reset.

I am very disappointed that microsoft doesnt automatically either allow you to allocate more space to the "system reserved" partition or make the default size large enough to do their own system image backup. Its kindve a joke really that this hasnt been addressed.

The 3rd party software in this video did work. Although I was worried about using it due to possible malware. Thankfully that doesnt seem to be the case. Great video and many thanks for helping me out.

Interestingly, Disk 0 Partition 1 is the recovery partition with 529MB free space. And I don't have a System Reserved partition. None of our workstation has System Reserved partition, but there is the only one out of all workstations that will not back up a system image, instead gives the 0x80780119 error.

Initially I got the same error message. Downloaded the free minitool and extended the system reserved partition size. However, I did not find the Recovery Partition. When tried to create the system image I got another error 0x80070015 message stating that "The device is not ready". After googling, I updated the system and restarted the machine a few times. In the process, I got back the recovery partition too. Then the system image creation process went on smoothly. Thanks for the tip.

What the problem is, is that either the volume shadow copy is not running and/or work station . To fix it open up services as admin and find volume shadow copy and make sure it is running and the same for work station then you can make all the system images you want. :O)

Worked for me on a pc with windows 10 Pro, Vers. 20H2, Bulid 19042.985.
I didn't find correct response ti this problem on Microsoft official Helpdesk.
Where did you find this WorkAround ?
And where or how did you find that it's necessary at least 40 Mbyte free space on System Reserved NTFS Partition ??

trying to fix this error, delete the hidden windows partition that appears at the end of the disk (505 Mb at the end of disk 1 of this video) where windows is installed; there are the system recovery tools? is it possible to redo this partition? thanks for sharing your knowledge!! A hug from Colombia, South America!!

Okay my bad, this solution works perfectly!
Mini tool failed to extend the partition on the 1st restart, but I was desperated and thought I had nothing to lose doing it a 2nd time...and on the 2nd restart, Mini tool went to 100% and it extended the partition!
I just created the disk image.
Thanks so much for your help, I hope my comment will also help others.
Don't give up guys!

Didn't work for me, as Mini Tool doesn't want to apply the change (extending the System Reserved partition) even after restarting.
