Does More RAM Give You More FPS? (Usually)

Yes, adding more RAM usually does help increase FPS when playing your games.

But, adding more RAM will only help you only if the game or app wasn't getting the amount of RAM it needs in the first place.

For example, the minimum RAM requirement for Forza Horizon 5 is 8GB of memory.

The recommended amount is 16GB. If you upgrade your PC to 16GB you may see a boost in performance, since your computer now has enough RAM
to run your game while keeping important processes running.

If you were to upgrade 32GB, you would barely see a difference -- if anything at all.

So, how do you make sure you have enough RAM for your app or game?

1. Pay attention at the system requirements for the game or app you are using.
2. Use a dedicated GPU if you can. A dedicated GPU has its own type of memory (GDDR). Integrated graphics use your computer's RAM. Also, this type of RAM designed specifically for graphics. So not only you get more video RAM, but you get better quality RAM too.

3. To be absolutely safe, you can have 32 GB of RAM. This enough for the vast majority of games. But 16GB is usually enough.

In my experience, yes. But you’ll only really see a significant difference between the minimum requirements and the recommended system specifications, after that then it really won’t make a significant difference unless you’re adding more tasks like streaming or you have other things running in the background like discord, web browsers music, etc…
Yeah most games won’t need more than 16gigs but some of the brand new games like Indiana jones and the great circle are listing 32gb recommended so maybe it’s that time

I just upgraded from 16g to 32g and I did notice a difference in most games with load time, scene render speed and a slight FPS boost (about 15-20fps)

16GB RAM is quite enough for most of popular 3A games !

I used to play games on 8GB ram and was unable to play games like modded Minecraft with more than 200 mods, far cry 6 and even Warzone. Now that I have 16, I can Literally play modded Minecraft with BSL shaders. My 8GB ram was definitely limiting my already limited gtx1050ti

I’m at 32 gb, but I get frame drops when streaming and playing games at same time, there is a sale for the ram so I could get 64gb. Should I?

I added 12 gb rams, from 5, 71gb to 17, 7gb and I lost fps…

the shortest answer: yes and no, more RAM doesn't give you more FPS, but less RAM does give you less FPS, as for now, the ideal amount is 16
