Is This A Faster Fishing Method? - Valheim #shorts

I noticed that the regular fishing is painfully slow in this game, maybe I'm just doing it wrong but this is how I'm fishing from now on I guess.

It’s not too bad once you get used to it. I caught 3 fish in only a few minutes recently. High stamina food, not casting too far, and a decent fishing level make it worth while.

There are ways to catch pretty much every fish without the rod, but it is time consuming and can be resource heavy.
For most of the biome specific fish that spawn near the coastline, you can build a flat platform just above water level and wait for the fish to jump on it, but it needs to stick out into the water pretty far, and without using iron beams can be a pain to build. Plus, you can’t AFK the platform, you have to sit and watch, then run and grab the fish quick as tides/waves/storms, anything that makes the water come over the platform will allow the fish to swim away.
As for the fish that only spawn out in the ocean, use the longship. Same method, but you’re basically using the longship as a moveable platform for the fish to jump on, then grab em. You can use the karve, but it’s nowhere near as effective as the longship which has a much bigger deck for the fish to jump onto.
All depends on how much time and resources you wanna spend. I ended up using the longship to catch coral cod and pufferfish, as it takes a friggin sea serpent trophy to craft the heavy bait used in the ocean biome.
If and when I get a serpent trophy, that thing’s goin on the wall at my base... Lol.
As with most things, results vary. Sometimes, the fish aren’t in a jumpy mood, or they’ll kinda glitch out and you can watch them zing across the screen off into the distance, or they’ll jump and juuuust hit the edge of the platform or boat and fall back into the water, or they’ll jump onto the platform but before you reach it, it’ll flop itself back into the water, or a wave will barely break the surface of the platform and the fish will glitch through the floor... ya know, glitchy Valheim fish stuff. Lol. The rod is the most reliable way, but there *are* more ways to catch a fish.

I catch fish back to back. You have to game it.
Cast out only ~7 meters. Or reel it in to about 7.
Then wait
Wait
Don’t touch it
Wait because moving it resets the timer.
And when it bobs click right mouse
You can see the fish go up to it before they bite so you’ll know, you can even start reeling early once you get the hang of it.
Lastly. Wait more.
Only reel when the fish isn’t flopping. And don’t reel immediately after hooking because it fights a lot.
Last resort.. you can hook the fish and walk backwards to pull the fish onto shore, like you’ve harpooned it. Just don’t go too far or it snaps.

I haven't gotten to the point in the game where I can buy the fishing rod so I've just been pushing fish out of water or onto shore and picking them up

I just wait till i see them washed up on shore after a storm. One time one of the big orange ones junped into our boat while we were sailing and we were able to grab it quickly 😂

Good stack of stamina heavy foods, stamina potions and a lot of bait and you will find yourself fishing for hours braving the seas for some high quality fish 👌

i will have to agree, the fishing is way too slow. i usually use some form of cheese to get my fish

I'm playing a mod right now that makes fishing a requirement to progress in the early game... Thankfully all the fish just jump onto the shore so I can scoop them up
