Also make sure your camera is set to Orthographic instead of Perspective, perspective adds a different shade along the normal (blue to pink) Orthographic makes the area without topology one flat color

This is one way, but baking seems easier and more accurate. No need to line up the camera pixel perfect.

But an interesting approach no less

Double click the right mouse is the only way I know how to select a full edge loop. I tried the ALT + that doesn't work. What do I look under in the preferences that gets kind of confusing to me.
