Gotta say thanks for showing the proper way to do that repair, although that's not exactly easy, it's far better than just rethreading and stuffing a larger bolt in the hole, or using foreign material to take up the lost threads.

"Slip" threads are easy, especially if you have a whole bucket of threaded inserts available. Try "stripped" threads without the inserts.

Pretty smart. I'll be modifying me some bolts next time the job doesn't allow a bigger bolt. So you just have a coffee pot of center drilled and tapped bolts for just the occasion? What are they used for? Also what's the point in heating it with a lighter before applying the epoxy?

Good job. Next time after placing the insert, screw in allenhead setscrew before cutting off. Allows for thread restoration without need for second tap. God bless.

You can drill and pin the insert, to lock it in place.
