Ever stripped the threads out of something you're working on? Fear not, you can fix most stripped threads with a Helicoil kit! These will completely fix and replace the stripped threads. You have to drill out your existing threads, tap it to fit the new coil, and then you're left with perfect threads after you install the helicoil!

Hey everyone. My videos have improved a TON since this one, and I'm currently rebuilding a Toyota W56 transmission. If you like this kind of stuff, check it out!

Believe or not I was only one bolt away from replacing an oil cooler. I appreciate your video and wasn’t going to do this job twice.

This was actually one of the better videos on Youtube on how to reclaim a thread. So many bodgers out there either with dozy ideas or using the wrong tools. Nice one ;-)

Thank you! You are the only one that explains the pre-coil tool for fine threads!

Excellent video, learned a lot from this. I had a bolt break off while doing a suspension bushing replacement on my HDJ81. I drilled it out and used a thread chaser to recover the original threads. Got lucky that the bolt was in a very accessible location.

Glad I found this video. I'm changing the transmission fluid in my 99 Expedition which requires dropping the pan. Three of the twenty bolt holes have stripped threads and it wasn't my fault this time. Still, I need some fast education and this helps a lot!

In older Toyotas, the coils are held in place by a screw and it is into aluminum engine block. So JB Kwik Weld can be used to make threads since the coil screws are NOT under stress... just keeping the coils held in place with very little stress on them... So lubricating the threaded part of each screw end is enough and the Kwik Weld is plenty strong enough to put in the aluminum block with damaged threads ....

Pro tip= the dial on the calipers shows the depth/size and you don’t need to use a measuring tape to measure the depth.

so how do you fix deep threaded holes like 2in deep+? I only see short threaded coils.

Link to what you use. My mom's civic motor bracket threads are toast I'm gonna fix it tomorrow any recommendation will be greatly appreciated.

did he really just use a tape measure to take a reading from a caliper?

In case this happens again and you wanted to fix/restore the threads, check out our rotary thread. Our tool can fix any thread pitch, inch, metric & pipe, we would be happy to send you a product to test it out :)

Wouldn't it be good to add maybe just one drop of medium strength threadlocer on the hole before putting in the helicoil?

did use a tape measure to measure the caliper tail? lol great video though, just caught me off guard.
