For me the time that glue comes out is when repairs are needed. Clips, torsos, arms, feet...if it is cracked or broken, a few dabs of glue will hold it together!

There are special glues online for people who want to rebuild sets after glueing them. I don’t remember what it was called but the glue sets and holds pretty tightly, after washing it with some warm water (maybe soap as well) it comes off like it was never there, letting you rebuild endlessly

I usually don't glue broken pieces back together, instead just reusing them for other builds. It adds texture and let's you make odd shapes or slopes.

I think it's worth noting that if you want to do something like hang a set from fishing wire from your ceiling to make it look like its floating you should use super glue or crazy glue to keep it from falling apart while it's hanging.
