I have both releases. I would never have guessed AI was used for The Terminator, its that good. This is how I wished all movies used AI.
While I did actually like Aliens too, the lack oft any grain makes it look kinda weird imo.
The Terminator is the much better AI job.

For the included Blu-ray of "Terminator" does it have new 4K transfer and audio or just the original release?

Aliens looks amazing. I cant wait to see The Terminator. I prefer the original mono track to the remixes. Im so happy that they restored the original soundtrack. I hope Cameron revises T2 with this level of love and care.

Personally, once youve seen the Special Edition of Aliens, theres no going back.

...does anyone else see the irony of AI upscaling a Terminator movie?

Personally I don't like grain either and there's some movies that the bluray release is unwatchable from the grain like evil dead 2, when I "upgraded" to bluray I found myself still watching the dvd over the bluray because there was just way too much grain so I'm all for losing grain completely or keeping the most minimal amount needed for the best picture!

BAH! James Cameron destroys his films with AI (Skynet?). Aliens has acutally way less detail than the "old" Blu-ray! And on the same time the actors look older with added wrinkles.

why use Ai when you can SCAN THE ORIGINAL NEGATIVE IN I don't get it. That's why I love other labels like Vinegar Syndrome and what not, they actually take the time to scan and correct in high quality to UHD!

Both have their issues, unfortunately. But at least Terminator has the MONO MIX

Blu-ray is beyond perfect for me. 4K is great, but it's too clear for me. It makes the practical effects look more faker.

They both look and sound amazing, but I can’t suppress my curiosity on how good it would also look without AI but a true 4K.

Constructive criticism. You're moving in and out of focus too much. Your camera's autofocus is either terrible or you have it completely turned off, and you can't sit still. It's completely focused on your mic not your face.

The tools they use are no better (and seem to actually be worse) than the AI tools which have now been democratised so that anyone with a powerful enough PC can do it themselves. I was not impressed by what AI could do until near the end of last year when it was mature enough for me to start using it, albeit with a massive learning and experience curve involved and a need to keep one's expectations in check.

id rather watch a less clear version than AI adding and distorting

I don't believe terminator is upscaled in fact a lot of sources says it is taken from the original camera negatives

Up until the 4K release of Aliens... Every-single home media release has looked like shit because of the grain!
Cameron has been very vocal about hating the grain himself!
So all those in the camp of "It's what the director intended!" when talking about the grain... Wrong!

Cameron NEVER intended Aliens to look grainy at-all!
Cameron had to 'Make-Do' with the film-stock provided by Kodak!

Me? I'm very much in favour of "It's what the director intended"

I love the new 4k releases with vastly reduced grain...
looking forward to what's next 😈
