Wow first thing that flashed into my head after the definition was this describes Steven Furtick exactly! He reads himself narcissistically into every verse of scripture and teaches his audience to do the same. YOUR NOT DAVID is an understatement. 😁🙏

The dignity in serving God in ministry (as all Christians are called to build one another up and reach the world) is not that we do great things for God, but that God sovereignly chooses to work in and through us.

He must increase, but I must decrease.
He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.

I'm no main character for sure! 😊 I don't even have a speaking role in the movie. Heck, I was just a nobody who was out randomly walking nowhere no how, but the utterly gracious world famous director called me out sheerly out of his mercy and kindness, nothing to do with me, and he put me in the movie as a background character just passing through a small scene where I've been happily playing my little part ever since. 😊

Ain’t nothing good about me! Main character complex? I’m lucky to a number among God’s chosen people

This is good brother, we should be honored and humbled that the Lord would use us in any capacity for his own purposes and for his own glory.

It can get in the way of faithfully and clearly preaching the word, I've experienced clergy who do this and see the diect result of it. We need Christ. "Sir, we wish to see Jesus."

I heard J Vernon MGee tell a story about how God reminded him, he was not essential, that after he died life would continue on, to just rest in the fact I'm (God saying to him) your father.

And well geezzz man if JVernon from the bible bus ain't essential then I'm a leaf on a tree in the background lol. It was actually kind of freeing.

The Lord told Elijah “I have 7, 000 who have not bowed the knee to Baal” (1 Kings 19:18) Anyone who thinks they are indispensable or the Neo “chosen one” of the Church is self-deluded.

This is seen in so many places online today from regular people. I just shared this link in the comments of a female "apostle" it is such a useful video. I hope many watch it, then watch more of your videos so they come away from that heresy.

The corollary to that is NPC world. That's when you think everyone around you is an NPC (non-playable character) serving your needs and goals only.

Basically, their life is a movie and they’re the main character. They could possibly view God as in a supporting role.

When preachers become comfortable in their position at a church, and continually use the phrase "my flock", then it becomes a concern. No, not "your flock" but rather "God's flock". The pastor is God's servant like the rest of the congregation. This mindset can be a factor in the downfall of a church when it loses its pastor--the "flock" had its eyes on the pastor and not on the Lord.

Ego-drama vs Theo-drama, that’s what Hans Urs von Balthasar called it according to Bp Robert Barron

Based on many of these comments, it would seem that a lot of people are prone to throwing stones at others when a particular sin is discussed rather than looking in the mirror and examining themselves.

What, you mean it's not all about me? After all, isn't all the world my stage, excuse me, I meant a stage 😊

Christ has “Main Character Complex, ” and rightly so. But also, what about “Least Character Complex”? Men can also become quite arrogant and proud about being the “least in the kingdom of heaven.”
