J'aime beaucoup plus la version du chanteur pianiste Donny Hathaway, qui ramène en quelque sorte la brebis égarée dans le sérail du gospel, quelque part entre « Oh Happy Day » des Edwin Hawkins Singers et « Come To Jesus » de Mahalia Jackson. Dès l'intro au piano, on comprend qu'on délaisse le terrain de la musique easy listening de supermarché pour quelque chose de plus authentique et de plus beau..."

"...Concerning this gospel song, "Put Your Hand In The Hand" was done and covered in versions of the early seventies music which was the style and fashion of the times it was written.
I like the version and style of the singer and pianist Donny Hathaway which reflects gospel music. It sets the style and tone between the Edwin Hawkins Singers' "Oh Happy Day" and Mahalia Jackson's "Come to Jesus". From the piano intro, it is understood that one abandons the traditional everyday background music for a more beautiful, personal, and one of a kind authentic selection of music..."
