I found out that you don't even have to do the puzzle you can just go to the back pick the lock on the little symbol that's actually the handle for the door and open the secret door without even doing the puzzle I've never had to do the puzzle

at that statue thing in the first part (where you said the trail goes cold) there is actually a book about it, so "the trail goes cold" is NOT the last update in act 1. Otherwise great video.
