I know people are saying it doesn't really make sense to clip this scene out of context and make it all sad, but I feel upon closer re-examination, this is indeed a sad fucked up scene after playing through all the games and reading a lot of the light novels.

Junko stages this giant ordeal after years and years of planning only to lose at the very last moment due to her own narcissistic and hedonistic nature. This really nails in the finality of Junko's character, but failure for Junko isn't even really a punishment for her; it's more of a reward. Anybody who watched the anime or played the games knows what I'm talking about. She wasnt always an evil unfeeling bitch though; it's shown there was a piece of her that did truly want to be a normal person, but her other persona eventually takes over her mind and begins killing everyone she loves, starting with those closest to her, which is why we know next to nothing about her motivations or previous life other than Mukuro, Matsuda, and what small glimpses we get in DR Zero and DR3 (DR3 does Mukuro and Junko's characters no favors either).

Then we have all the survivors who are looking at this person with all this hate and malice, but they don't even remember who Junko even is. The only person in the room who has any memories of what has transpired over the last half a decade or so is Junko, and she doesn't even care anymore at this point. The survivors put a stop to Junko, but that doesn't bring anybody who died back to life; it doesn't even really give them a solid explanation as to why Junko did what she did! All Junko says before she kills herself is that she's destroyed the world by poisoning it with her despair riddled ideology and that she can't believe a normal gross idiot like Naegi beat her. And that's it; she kills herself, and the game ends.
