just press ctrl + alt + esc and it'll take you immediately to task manager. Crazy how few people know this

2nd one worked for me and my issue was extremely low frames on a powerful pc or sometimes it wouldn't even load in. Just unlock advanced settings and turn on DirectX 12 like he says.

Affinity method does seem to stop the stuttering, but more than halves the fps.. from 70 to 30

Pro Tip: In case you're playing on PC with MODS. Delete the Bank Assault Mod if you have the Leny Trainer, idk why but it causes some conflict wich results on the fps drop. At least that was my case... Hope it helps

My FPS is usually fine, lower than it should be but playable. It's just the freezing that gets me. every 30 secs or so it freezes for a few seconds. tried everything in the video but still nothing. any ideas?

Thanks, when I set affinity to 2 cores the game runs smoother. My issue is when I play story mode the game will freeze/pause for about 4-5 seconds. Then when it resumes it is like my character and the game were still progressing/moving forward but then the audio catches up and I am hearing current dialogue with the audio I missed on top of the current audio. What does setting the affinity actually do? I read what I could online but how does it help in this situation? Thanks again.

"Here’s some details, desperado! Open Process Lasso, and then launch Red Dead. Find RDR2.exe in Process Lasso, right click it and choose CPU Limiter. There’s 4 boxes in the upper left. “When CPU use is” should be set to 98%, skip the “For a period of” box, then add 1 to “Reduce by this many CPU cores” and finally add 1 to “for a period of”. Click Add Rule, and then OK and you should be good to go! Easier than changin shoes on a Clydesdale!"
Benchmark 65fps on a i5 1070 medium slider 3 along I think :)

Here is my solution when i got freezing and exited unexpectedly....go to setting on rockstar launcher -> my installed game-> rdr2-> search launch argument then text -safemode and play. change your setting ingame with windows borderless mode with your current res monitor and reduced your graphic setting on high. thats work for me, now i could play normally. my rig i5 3570 ram 16GB vga 1060 6GB win 7. dont play on fullscreen mode because it would make your pc cant resist to load the game

I have done everything you said... game is even more lagging and if try to Alt+Tab my whole computer will freeze so I have to restart it...

I played like 60h thean it crashed and now it lags and freezes. Have done 3 clean installations still same result. So weird played at 1080p with 60fps now I can take the lowest quality and same lag and like 25-5 fps

Hope this might help someone. Going into valentine made my game literally unplayable. My game would freeze every two seconds and unfreeze for literally 0.1frames per second. Anyway. I did the cpu thing. Halved my FPS. Btw my system is msi 1070ti gaming 8GB. I5 7600k 3.8 clocked at 4.2ghz. And 24GB of ram. Anyway my cpu has 4 cores. Only ticked 2. Like i said my frames literally dropped to half of what I was getting. From a steady 60 to 30fps. Anyway I selected all the cores again and my game did not freeze once after that and I also changed to directx12

Somehow i found out that everytime i either rollback or upgrade nvidia driver the game will run smoothly until you close the game and you will see some stuttering again
