I'm more impressed about how a kid left his house for a day and his dad just ripped his house to space time

I just love how Wonka looks proud at charlie when he said "candy doesn't have to have a point. that's why it's candy."

You can see in Wonka's eyes for the first time ...his human and "not-so-weird" nature when he sees Charlie saying "Candy doesnt have to have a point" . He looks impressed and genuinely happy to look

The look and the smirk when Wonka says "go ahead" it's a "Die from your own hand" Johnny is an amazing actor

Honestly though, this imaginative wonder of a movie is extremely underrated.

I love how every time the elevator moves, it slams all of the others against the wall, but Willy just kind of leans forward a bit, but never once moves. Well played, Willy. Well played.

What's really brilliant is how immediately after Mike caused him to remember his childhood, his whole demeanour changed from then on out. He still acted jolly but you can see the darkness (cheesy but true) surrounding him and the joy he felt when Mike got his due, something he at least tried to hide with the other three. I honestly think this is better than the original and didn't get enough praise.

The flashing lights from the explosions illuminating wonka's face when he says go ahead, is a really sinister detail

2:18 Does anyone else notice the look on Willy Wonka's face when Charlie says the line about candy not needing a point because it's candy? I think that's what really sealed the deal for Wonka is Charlie saying that. Finally, here was someone who had Wonka's passion for candy, and understood what he was did.

3:37 I'm pretty sure Willy was imagining Mike getting in some kind of accident, which is why he let him choose the next room. Mike reminded Willy way too much of his abusive father, and Willy wanted to punish his father vicariously through Mike.

Wonka's true plan: ever since his traumatic experience in his childhood, he build a factory to comfort himself but when there are spies in the factory he begins to grow defensive of his chocolates and fired his employees. It was then he hired the oompa-loompas to work for the factory. One day he realized that he is getting older so he decided to invite 5 children to the factory as his heir. However while he is watching the news Wonka learns that out of five childrens they have: greediness, stubbornness, addiction and arrogance. Only Charlie the poor and wise one who doesn't have those 4 sins. So in order to teach them a lesson along with giving parenting advice to disciplined them, he brings them to 4 rooms (with the exception of Mike who choose his own room) with their weaknesses and each succumbs to the temptation leaving Charlie as the winner.

Foreshadowing Mike’s fate

This scene perfectly encapsulates how Mike is the true opposite of Charlie. Their questions or words triggered different flashbacks, negative and positive respectively. Actually I also noticed their interactions with Wonka affect him in different ways as well. I don't know if this is intentional since the book doesn't have this kind of character study.

A lot of people said Charlie is opposite of other three kids for obvious reasons, but with Mike is a lot deeper. Charlie doesn't know anything much, which is why he listened to Wonka throughout the tour, and asks questions that actually "the audience" thought of. Why Wonka chose to open the factory on that day? What did he felt the first time tasting a candy?

Mike however, not only "knows it all", he kept questionned every explanation Wonka gave during the tour or using his "intellect" to counter his, to the point you can actually felt him annoyed and aggravated. I think the TV Room scene is already self-explanatory.

Personally, I wish Charlie and Mike interacted more aside what we got here. Doesn't have to be negative like Violet or Augustus, it can be good, but his interaction with Wonka made Charlie progressively uncomfortable, or something similar like that.

Everyone asking "how the whole house got disappeared" You have to remember that was a flashback of a little child. Probably the house was still there but his father was gone. So i think, they wanted to show us how Wonka felt.

Am I the only one who watched this for Wonka's little smile at realizing Charlie is the only one of the children who truly appreciates and understands candy?
