For me, I started not knowing anything about bim, then started working for contractors in 2013 doing HVAC coordination/shop drawings in revit with in a team of 3 (one detached local project file we made copies of, and the project browser was a nightmare, lol)... got used to the revit UI and could model anything you wanted after 8 months. in 2014, moved on to a MEP engineering firm as a bim technician and learned more about the program (shared parameters, family creation, worksets, collaboration, project templates, etc... transition from servers to revit server was a new thing) 2015, moved to another firm and got a job as design engineer and worked on a bunch of projects. I had the documentation down ok and learned about the engineering design side, so i learned the calcs and i could do the modeling/ drawings myself. later, i learned from a close coworker about using revit as an engineering tool as opposed to a drafting tool. such as friction calculations and sizing the system with revit, however, this is very cumbersome, especially with multiple people working on the same project. i think now stuff to learn that springboard off revit are the plugins that help with workflow. Dynamo was one, but i haven't heard about it since closely before COVID started. revisto was another, that's just a collaboration platform. I've never done any scripts, i just use rftools to help with any workflow i need done, if i have to do it myself cuz our bim team is busy. I have a bunch of my own families that I keep on my desktop and when we get a blank project off a generic template, i just go and set up all my stuff and get the ball rolling. other than revit, it's mostly navisworks for trade coordination that's the most helpful, but since everything is on the bim 360 platform, i think that UI is important to know.

Same Story I have with BIM, Same story what she said. Amazing video, I also started work for one of the company in Ahmedabad (India) in 2016 and that firm was doing work in BIM and I was also stared the career with interior projects and I was having this fear that where ever I go I should be working in BIM only because I never wanted to go with Traditional approach method and finally I left the country and came to Canada in 2021 for doing Post Graduation in BIM. Amazing

Hi there!!!

I just wanted to check with you reg the courses being offered at a nearby BIM coaching centre.
The package includes- AutoCAD, revit (archi & structure), civil 3D, microstation, Aecosim and navisworks.
Are these a true BIM softwares? And can we be made industry ready if we follow these?

I've heard a lot about BIM 360, does any of the above softwares has any connections with the BIM 360 as trainer is claiming there's no seperate software for BIM 360!

Please advise what to do?

During my internship I got my hands on certain platforms like Bim360, Navisworks and major part was revit as I was working on Revit since my 2yr during b.arch but now I am in 5th yr and I am confused what should I do.
I am really interested in BIM but want get hold of the design part also.
I am confused whether I should go for masters or not (As having BIM is a great skill but I don't want to get into purely into it like MEP as an instance) modeling
I am interested in Rhino and Revit collaboration but do not know anything about Rhino as of now.
Apart from this I have meagre knowledge of practical realm (on site work).
Should I go on learning onsite experiences by getting a job as an Intern Architect or should I just apply for Fresher Architect
I am eagerly waiting for reply to the same.
