I didn't use this method but I literally just washed mine and the pillow looks like new (it was a lot worse than the one in this video). Here's how I did it. I used a plastic storage bin instead of the bathtub (but I did have the bin in the bathtub) to reduce water waste and to confine the ingredients. Fill with hot water, enough to cover the pillow, but not too much more because the pillow will just float. Before adding the pillow, add the ingredients which are Oxi Clean and detergent. The Oxi Clean comes in a small oval shaped tub like a half gallon ice cream and it says "For sweat, musty towels and body odor." Using the scoop that comes with it I added two scoops. Then add one scoop of detergent. The detergent I used was also granular and much smaller so you don't need much...if at all. With the ingredients added to the water stir it up till the granules are broken down, add the pillow and totally saturate it. Let it sit for 30 minutes then flip it over. You will have already noticed a noticeable difference in appearance. I let mine soak for 6 hours, flipping it over every hour. It was clean at this point but one cycle through the washing machine cleaned out the excess soap and Oxi. Afterwards I threw in in the dryer and now it's as good as new. Good luck!

O my.. the pillow filling is cotton. After washing it using top load the stain didnt totally gone like just small spots or faint residual left. Because of no dryer it was placed under the sun like more than 5 hours but its not completely dry and less fluffy.

I've made my own pillows by hand-sewing muslin together. I used a double-backstitch and they're filled with polyfill with zippers sewn into one end. They're meant to be inserted into larger pillowcases; I made them because around 2017 I ordered pillows from Amazon and they worked, but not the greatest. I wanted more though, so I reordered them in 2021, and they cost me $80 and were not the same pillows as I got in 2017. I sent them back and made my own with like $35 worth of muslin and polyfill.

I'm kind of worried that the polyfill won't wash right, but I need to wash them. I don't want to waste polyfill by throwing it away (polyester does not biodegrade and is expensive to replace nowadays) but I'm worried that the original Amazon pillows (which need the most attention) are going to fall apart in the wash if I leave the polyfill in them.

Do you have any advice on top loader machines? I have two pillows which are machine washable, but every time I try to wash them they inflate so much they come out the top of the machine, and I can never get through the full cycle! (for reference my machine is quite large - 8kg). Are there any tip or tricks to deal with this? I think if I tried one pillow it would cause a balancing issue, so I'm not really sure what to do. Frustrating because I want to wash my pillows 😢
