Back in the caveman days of bowling( in my lifetime, that would have been the 70's) you didnt bowl on fancy oil patterns, the lanes were either oiled or they weren't weren't, and when they were dry AF in the house I bowled in, you threw nothing but a straight ball or one with a slight hook, Urethane to my knowledge wasnt a thing yet, so either a Rubber or Plastic ball was all you had.Big sweeping hooks in that house were DEATH

In my old-timer opinion, bowlers TODAY aren't necessarily better, but the equipment is FAR superior to back then
