Thanks for the amazing video as usual, Utsav! Having ADHD, I tend to have trouble focusing on multiple simple tasks at once, which comes with the territory with any large projects where I have to wear multiple hats. However when I'm focused and building something more like a complex service, I have no trouble getting it done in one or two sittings...up to 95% of the way through. That last 5% when my brain thinks I've "solved" the task at hand and only have mundane/clean-up work left is the biggest challenge, and easily takes up the same amount of time, since I lose that hyper focus and enter a lazier state of mind. Granted, pomodoro has helped me through these lapses, but they do still occur from time to time.

Thank you so much for yet another informative and wonderfully conveyed video Mr. Utsav! As an aspiring programmer... I had just one question to ask you...

Does the college name matter in today's time for tech companies? For e.g I have gotten into both Arizona State and UW-Madison as an international... But the latter costs an additional USD 80K.

I would really benefit with your insight on this. What would you have chosen had you been in my shoes?

(P.S: I am a long time subscriber and absolutely love the high quality and informative content you produce!)

I go to a meeting room for 30 min sometimes when I am not able to finish some work after many distractions from the surroundings.

Many thanks for another fantastic video. You truly have many talents. I have recieved a lot of motivation from you. I am going through free code camp to switch out of my 21 year career in the food and beverage industry and as a chef of the last 8 years. A field where i see many needs for programming. Self taught learning on my own is a challenge without knowing anyone in the programming field. It is not easy to find a mentor. I have turned to your content for many good words of productivity advice, books to read, and great outlooks in the computer science industry.

Sorry to ask a stupid question, but what color are you using for your walls. I have been working on redoing my home office and struggling to find a color I like.

Flow requires deeper concentration and activating it by focusing on your goal. Acquiring it is not that easy and fast. It takes time and practice. C Wilson Meloncelli's channel also discusses flow in greater depth and offers advice on how to dwell on it.Come check him out!

Knowing how productive you are in the flow state can also lead to procrastination... At least for me. When im in the zone, i like it and i feel very productive. But knowing that, it takes me a while to get into it because i tell myself "i can finish it later, i can finish it tomorrow". Distractions during the zone doesn't really affect me much. Its just getting in lol because i know I'm a procrastinator. Trying to get rid of this habit as a senior in CS. Maybe i just enjoy the pressure of doing things last minute? Definitely a bad thing lol because i know my code will be much better and sophisticated the sooner i start on them.

Sir i was pushed by your videos on YouTube, i have to seek advice from you. i am in final semester of 2 year Cs degree with no previous cs knowledge ...i understand the syntax but there are too many languages taught in our course from c++/java/python/c# in our degree, that i sometimes feel horrible to be able to work as a real software engineer, i have a good understanding of C, Which makes it easier for me to transit, but my problem is even after 2 years of college i feel i am not ready for the job or i will be not able to get any, can you tell me what should i do ASAP to bag a job in IT

Thanks for picking this topic up, i believe it is an important one which every one knows but they still get stuck in between, As for me i say i used to recharge myself with a good long walk or having some reading or games, everyone should give some time to themselves if you are not feeling like doing at the moment....
Happy Coding.

There are so much videos on productivity but none that I watch make it so accessibile like your videos. Maybe because it is specifically target to software engineers idk . But thank you really much!

Full disclosure. I'm not a software engineer. However your description of 'Flow State' absolutely nails the concept and it completely on the money! As you say, it's beneficial to so many things in life and I can absolutely see it's value to your profession. Great video! :)

Thank you for the video!

I get distracted many times at work every single day because I all of a sudden need to fix things that became more urgent. Therefore I have 2-3 days every week where I work from home because that is the only thing that allows me to remove those distractions and get into flow state 😊 at the office it is simply impossible for me.
