Why Did So Few Jedi Wield Double-Bladed Lightsabers?

Why Did So Few Jedi Wield Double-Bladed Lightsabers? Various Sith, Inquisitors and Sith assassins wielded duel blades, but they were exceptionally rare amongst the Jedi Order. Although less rare in the Old Republic era, barely any Jedi used such weapons by the Clone Wars. Double-bladed lightsabers utilised acrobatics, long thrusting moves and a great deal of force energy as Pong Krell demonstrated pretty effectively against the 501st legion. But this technique was very similar to Form 7, the very aggressive and forbidden Sith lightsaber style used by Darth Maul. And as was the case with Pong Krell, this could easily lead a Jedi down the path of the dark side.

Pong Krell was an ABSOLUTE beast. Sure Palpatine would have loved having him as his apprentice in case Anakin didn't turn to the Dark Side

Bastila Shan: "I am an expert in the dangerous double-bladed lightsaber combat and have a former Sith Lord as my traveling companion"
Jedi Council: "That sounds absolutely fine..."

If the Jedi honestly think a kind of lightsaber would make them fall to the dark side, then there's bigger issues at hand

lol i feel like breathing wrong can lead you down the path of the dark side according to the jedi

Me: I’m gonna have a burger
Jedi council: red meats can lead to bowel movements, which can lead to anger. Anger can lead to the dark side
Me: motherfu-

A double-bladed lightsaber immediately screams militancy and martial prowess. While these things are often necessary in the name of defending those who can't protect themselves, it displays an image that the various Jedi Councils throughout the ages didn't wish to convey.

Satele Shan was truly badass with the double-bladed lightsaber. Bastila would be proud of her princess 🥲

I always thought it was because a light saber is the last resort for a Jedi to get out of situations they can’t resolve peacefully so carrying two or a double sided lightsaber kind of worked against that pacifist way of thinking

Of coarse double bladed lightsabers are also great for Form 3. But the Jedi lack imagination.

It's not really like Satele Shan used the Forbidden Form Juyo. Back in her days, she used Ataru as her Form. Also If you think a weapon makes you fall into the darkside, then you need more faith. Same goes for Romantic attachments that the Jedi do not allow, but actually make Jedi much stronger.

I wonder how the Jedi thought of Jaro Tapal, he wasn't as large as Pong Krell to necessarily need a double bladed saber, but he still had one.

not to be a hater or anything, but where exactly is it stated that taking double bladed saber leads to the dark side? Specially since Double Bladed combat would probably be coming from either Form 6 Niman (which is probably the main reason Jedi dont use it too often), or derives from jar-Kai which was not often seen.

TLDR: Double Bladed Saber fighters are rare cause of the Form that`s been used.

And then there's Jaro Topal, who seems to have no issue using a staff. Though he was ALSO a lasat and pretty tall, so it could just be that a staff was easier to wield than a simple single blade

Double bladed lightsaber, was created by Exar Kun, but in using it, one would have to master Arturu....

I feel like it's pretty self explanatory. Just depended on ones skill and what they were comfortable with.

Personal instead of a doubled lightsaber staff, I’d rather wield two separate lightsabers, gives you a bit more ways to go about things.

Remember in Legends it was a Jedi turned Sith that invented such a weapon, Exar Kun

As stated by a great swordsman: 1 extra blade is more than needed and 1 blade in and of itself is one more than wanted

The 7th lightsaber form is called Juyo, or the ferocity form. As explained in the video, not many Jedi did use it due to it’s close nature with the dark side. Mace Windu was one of the few Jedi who used a variation of form 7 called Vaapad.
