I see lots of recommendations for beginner Witches (sometimes called "Baby Witches -- in reference to newness of practice, not chronological age), but nothing much for those beginning a Traditional Craft practice. So, your Auntie Laurelei is here to share some tips -- and a peek at my own practice as a beginner. (And that one frankly adorable photo from 1978!)

I'm very happy to find a beginner advice video that isn't just poo pooing on beginners like they're an inconvenience, but rather loves and adores them and wants to see them flourish. High respect for seasoned witches who have the patience and respect for those wide eyed, fresh first starters ❤

I love your channel… you have a really inviting and comforting voice, and i enjoy learning from you. I will often listen to you whilst I’m driving my children to school, going to the market, or while I’m working…because I work from home. There’s only a very small handful of people that I really enjoy listening to, you being one of them. So thank you for taking the time to share with so many of us…Sending warm blessings 💜🫶🏻✨

I am a 47 yr old baby witch. Woo! Your videos are lovely and have answered quite a few questions I didn’t know I had. Thank you! This has been a lifelong journey for me. Having been a book nerd for always and not wanting to trade in the religion I was raised in for just another set of stringent religious teachings, I am discovering that traditional witchCRAFT and it’s crooked path is where I should continue. Thanks for all the references and tips. ☺️

I've been beginning for 22 years. Wish I had done more doing and much less trying to bring others along with me. I wanted to share as I learned because I could see how valuable this could be to help others, but it has distracted me, disheartened me and has taken me out of deepening my own experiences. I wish I had been more self-focussed.

I don't consider myself a beginner anymore, but for sure a novice and a student. My tips for any beginers (especially for neurodivergent folxs) is to not get overwhelmed! If you feel overwhelmed TAKE A BREAK! I would Hyper Fixate on something and study and read until like 4 AM and then be to tired to actually practice anything. For so long I never realized that I HAD to have a practice. You can read all day but that is not Doing the thing... You have to do the thing. I also was very concerned about casting a circle because it never felt correct or right for my practice. Then I found out about 'Treading the mill' or 'Hallowing the Compass' which felt alot more natural to me as a way to create liminal space. Stay away from Wiccan books (unless you want them, to each their own) or Llewellyn Wiccan Flavored books- none of them felt right. (Nothing wrong with Wicca just not me- tho I LOVE Dorren Valiente, now) I read Gemma Gary 'The Black Toad' & 'A book of Cornish Ways'. I also really Enjoyed more American Southern Writers, Aaron Oberon 'Southern Cunning' was very influential to me as a Southern Folkloric Witch. And Bryon H Ballards 'Staubs & Ditchwater' & 'Asafidity & Madstones' - reading their work reminds me of my Grandma 😊

Tips that i need- sleep charms, dream work, lucidity work... ALOT of my practice is just protections in dreams because I have a very ACTIVE dreamscape and I have to constantly stay vigilent which makes for really crappy sleep. The knly thing that helps is drinking Chammomile, Mint, & Lemon Balm tea before bed. Lemon Balm keeps me dreamless.

Witchy content extravaganza!
I spit coffee all over the table laughing when I heard you say that. Welcome back. Good stuff today!! The area I'm struggling with is organization of notes, things I jotted down, ideas, web site clippings, etc. From a stack of data where I can't find things.
Being organizationly challenged, it would be great if you offered some tips on taking on the orc horde of such information.

I really enjoyed this video! I recently read Keldons traditional witchcraft which completely blew my mind. I found so much of what was in that book resonated for me because I found synchronization in my own practice. I’m also a fellow content creator on YouTube ^_^! I had no idea you had a channel and I found with through Teias video on traditional witchcraft where they mention the red thread academy! Thank you so much for the work that you do 🙏

im still a beginner even after beginning at age 14 and now being 37 I still learn new things and add them to my practice. but I began with a strong fear of candle magic and doing it wrong lol. now I use random candles and forget color coordination if it will hold my spell bottle together I am okay with that. learning quickly intention is everything.

I appreciate you sharing your knowledge so much. I’m subscribed and will be following you. I have been reading but want to hurry up already and DO something that would make me a real witch. 😂 Does that make sense? I love my tarot cards but currently don’t practice anything daily.

Little Witchling me wishes someone would have told her to write stuff down! Take notes on what you’re reading, take notes on websites & info … I left SO MUCH undocumented and promptly forgot half of it or spent half a day tracking down what website I found what info on. Even now I’m terrible at remembering to take notes when I read 😆

I really like your approach to teaching and your content. I want to purchase the academy package. What is the difference between the two you offer?
