Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report and author of "Don't Burn This Book" has a message for people who have been keeping their opinions about life and politics to themselves. Despite living in a country that protects free speech with the first amendment, cancel culture and woke twitter mobs have made a lot of us think twice before sharing our thoughts with others. This self-censorship moves us further away from the tolerant society in which we all aspire to live. Our constitution is based on the ideas of classical liberalism which protect individual rights. Being able to own what we earn, and express what we believe leads us to a path of greater tolerance and justice for all. The ideals of freedom and liberty are of the highest order. Today's liberals and progressives have strayed from this idea by segregating people into different identity groups and abandoning the simple, but important idea of "All men are created equal". The progressive worldview is tempting because it's safe as long as you accept your privilege or victim status. If your voice doesn't fit in or even challenges those ideas, then your voice can be silenced. This silencing of critical voices prevents us from achieving the truly liberal goals our founders imagined. Free thinking is risky because there is no set destination, political party or identity group for you to call home. Dave explains why charting your own course and thinking for yourself is a risk worth taking.

Thanks for being a voice of reason @DaveRubin Really enjoy your content, seems like you really grasp the concept that the purpose of a debate is not to change your opponents mind, but to instead understand them. AND that understanding does NOT have to equal agreement... "The problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money" ~ M. Thatcher

Thanks Dave. I totally at times feel my opinion doesn’t matter. I live in a very liberal area which isn’t worst thing. But when My wife and her whole family it’s there way or the highway (That’s the way I feel anyway). I consider myself a moderate. I have spit my ticket. I do find myself going tp to conservative side. I’m so tired of all the extremes. Seems like all we see on the mainstream media. Thanks again. Keep up the good work 👍🏻😊🇺🇸

I'm running for office this year as a Democrat, and I'm surrounded by Progressives. They're even attaching Progressive Commissars onto my campaign to make sure I toe the line like a good little boy. But what they don't realize is I'm a deep cover Classical Liberal. Let's hope I can turn the tables in the end, instead of getting deep six'd.

Some may think Conservatism is to conserve Christianity and traditional ways, thats fine.
I think conservatism is to conserve classical liberal values.

I've always been the the conservative type to never use or depend on Christianity as a pillar or arguement for my conservatism. Im not against Christianity, nor do I dismiss it. Im simply not married to it. However, would I prefer to live in a JudeoChristian society over any other society, absolutely. Would I like people to learn about JudeoChristian values, teaching, and of the such, absolutely. What Im saying is that I wouldnt use it as authority or as the empirical source.

Well it’s a mistake to think they give a crap about the constitution firstly.

I'm an upper-middle-class straight white male. I was raised in a loving home with two older sisters and two parents who loved and supported me at all times. I was taught the value that hard work and perseverance are the only way to be successful. I am in good health, both mentally and physically. I was born into the majority demographic in the wealthiest nation in the history of mankind. At no time have I ever had to overcome insurmountable odds to achieve success.

When I consider this, I have no problem admitting how good I've had it. I've never had to rise above racism. I've never been profiled. To my knowledge, I've never faced discrimination of any kind, even though I've witnessed it happen many times to POC and to the LBGTQ community. Yes, I am privileged. I don't comprehend why it would be considered an insult to say that I am. Rather, it's a responsibility. I owe it to my family, my community, and my nation to be upright, productive, and an agent of positive change. If my privilege grants me greater influence than the dispossessed, my conscience dictates that I should do everything I can to help.

My experience mirrors that of many of my Classical Liberal-minded friends. None of us fall into the extremes of the far-left progressives, or the far right radicals.

When I look at the 'woke' progressives, I see people who are making decisions based more on emotion than efficacy. I can agree that many of the problems they address are real, and need to be addressed at a systemic level, while also disagreeing with them on their solutions. Those who are reasonable will understand that we can have differing opinions on the solutions to problems, but can compromise if the solutions are based on data. This is the fundamental difference, as I see it. The 'woke' crowd cannot accept that you have an opinion on the solution that differs from their own. If you don't tow the line of identity politics and equity of outcome, they cannot consider your point of view without their entire world view collapsing in upon itself.
