Villain || The Bad Guys Animation [AMV]

HIIII, here's The Bad Guys MV I've been working on for 3-ish months. (Would've done that faster if I wasn't procrastinating...)
Once I watched the movie, I knew I had to make an animation with this song hehe

Really loving the tiny detail of revealing the fox to the right side of her face, where her piercings (the only sign of her "rebellious" or "villainous" side showing outwardly) are visible. As the video progresses, more and more of her other side is revealed. By the end when the light is shone on her, its the left side of her face towards the camera.

The song choice for these two characters makes so much sense. The part of the song Wolf has seems like he is trying to convince people he's a villain. The lines "What makes you disagree? You don't know what a wicked little devil I can be, do you?" is a façade. But deep down Wolf is a good person and he truly doesn't want to be boxed into a label as VILLAIN. But based on the perspective of others that's what he is. This perspective ties into the song's theme about the world being black and white. Not everything is just good and bad and based on someone's perspective they may just see you as either good or bad. For Diane, she is kind of the opposite of Wolf but very similar. She is hiding her bad side and exercising her good side to the public. But being around Wolf is good for her because she can let her true colors show. At the beginning of Diane's part of the song she yells "You're a villain" to Wolf but it could be her projecting and blending with the crowd so she can hide the villainous parts of herself. And the line "The villain you failed to notice breathes within you, so what?" is something I can imagine Wolf saying to Diane so she can just be her naturally mischievous self. It's also funny how during that same line you can see Diane being very cordial and nice so that the public eye won't suspect her being a villain. And my favorite part is from [0:35] to [0:44]. Wolf says he will kill someone and Diane says mockingly that he may kill someone. Wolf gets upset and says maybe he'll kill Diane and Diane says maybe. When I first saw this I thought Wolf is killing the good persona that Diane has and by killing that persona her villain comes alive. This makes even more sense to me because during that entire scene she was wearing what looks like an all black spy suit. She also recedes into the dark while Wolf walks to the brighter side of the area. It symbolizes their true natures as individuals and how their attraction to each other helps them in more ways than they know. I also think Diane enjoys being that villain so when Wolf storms away in frustration and Diane kind of smirks she is enjoying how he is helping her and he doesn't even know it. Kind of cute to think about.

Small detail, but Wolf's ear flick at the beginning indicating that he heard the viewer, before turning around was such great attention to detail!

i really like how the way the characters are animated fits how they are personality wise. wolf has less fullbody shots because hes quick, never lets people see too much of him, manipulating the space hes in and not waiting for the panels to have their time to show him off before going to the next, and then diane letting her shots in the spotlight linger, only really manipulating and going out of frame once, albeit just her hand. shows their personalities really well and it itched my brain real good

So, to clarify some things:

1. Animation program used is Toon Boom Harmony; for compositing I used After Effects
2. Animation is 24 FPS
3. No, I did not work on the movie XDD
4. I'm not sure if I'm making a process video... I almost don't have any recordings/drafts and worked very chaotically on the project, so imo "the making of" video wouldn't be very helpful :|
5. Yes, there was a WIP reposted on TikTok that got viral, it's my work, but not my account.

this is the kind of animation and proportion consistency i ASPIRE to achieve. How the fur coloring shifts as the character speaks, how the fur peaks disappears as the character slowly turns, and how the light slowly creeps in like a showlight turning on

I also love how when the tone in the song changes from a dramatic old-timey tune to an upbeat yet edgy melody the animation follows it the same way!! Not even to mention the switch (literally one of my fav parts) when he pushes it away in such a fun way… AHHHH!! Also the little tie adjustment lining up with the music!!!! Also the duality/symbolism of Diane being on the left (good) and mr wolf being on the right (bad) and at the end they switch right before Diane is kind of revealed… just absolutely wonderful!!!! And the dynamic backgrounds!??!? I can’t!!! Man I must have commented on this like 5 times and on your Instagram too because it’s so good….
