Gday Guys and Gals!

In this video i give you a thorough run through on how to remove/replace a failed tie rod end/track rod end and also how to check the ball joint for play and wear.

After removing the split pin you can loosen the nut off, now the hard bit is getting the ball joint end out of the hub, some are easier than others but you never know what your going to get!

Usually you can use a ball joint breaker which you can get from any auto store but i broke mine getting these tie rod ends out last time so i used the shock method by hitting the hammer on the side of the steering knuckle. If the ball joint is really hard to get out you can heat it with an oxy torche, buy a ball joint breaker or get a bigger hammer haha!

Hope this video helps some of you guys out there with replacing tie rod/ track rod ends.

If you would like to see any particular how to videos just leave a comment and i will see if i can help!

Cheers, Nick!

I think instead of counting threads, measuring top center of the new tie rod end to the edge of where it's threads are inserted would be more accurate. Not all tie rod ends will have the same thread count left to accurately determine distance to where the end is inserted.

Counting the threads only works if the part taken off is the exact same make and manufacturer of the part you're putting on.. had a lot of auto parts stores they sell you different manufacturing parts so you got to come up with a different concept other than counting threads

Hey mate. Would a worn out tie rod/drag links ends cause steering to shot left or right?

How in the F^$& did your end come out so easily? Did you have to use a torch, pipe wrench or anything to break the ends from the draglinks??
