The inner tie rod has a ball joint that can wear over time, causing a clunking noise, loose steering, and eventually, other problems with the wheel and suspension components. It’s a good idea to replace your inner tie rods as soon as you notice any of these symptoms. This video shows you how to replace the inner tie rods on your 1999-2007 Chevy Silverado.

This process should be similar on the following vehicles:

2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
2001 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

• Rust Penetrant
• Wheel Chocks

#1 Where'd you get that long handled vice grip? #2 Why 'copper' anti-seize as opposed to regular silver anti seize? You didn't mention that tool in the description section. Otherwise, great video!

1:57 see old tie rods are MOOG? If yours 1st time changing it, it’s not as easy. Rent Tie-rod tool 57346 from Autozone. Trust me…. Pipe wrench not gonna help. GM put red-permanent loctite on those.

I’m trying to so this job on my truck it’s a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L 4x4. But I can’t tell what inner and outer tie rods to buy because there’s different specifications what type of tie rods i need rack steering, power steering or gear steering, power steering? Can you help with this ?

My inner tie rod is frozen solid. Tried pipe wrench and the special autozone tool. 😩
